Well, I’m not really sure if you read through the last question I made or it this was an automatic message, but the question was if the iPad 4 will have this support for USB, since it looks like the app has no updates from App store (iOS 10) for some time.

    Hi @zirin, @ladeira42, @hns2020, @sangling, @thomas197, and @jlapp

We just released a new spacedesk Windows Driver which is now available on our download page (http://www.spacedesk.net) This update includes changes for spacedesk Service Tray Window. It can now be hidden and won’t pop up again upon client connection, just right-click on the spacedesk icon inside the system tray -> then choose “Hide Connection Window”.
Please Update your spacedesk Windows Driver to BETA RC v1.0.71 and let us know your feedback about this update.

I just finished setting up the new version. I went from 1.0.67 to 1.0.70, and the scenario I described in my original post works really well now. Regardless of whether there are any other screen updates or not, I’m able to move my cursor across the extended screen very smoothly, with minimal lag.

I would consider this issue resolved. Thank you for circling back!

Well, if iOS USB support is to come, than that is superb! I really appreciate that. Since this upcoming update do iOS USB wasn’t listed on the main page, I didn’t think about it.
I was considering buying a HUB to use with ethernet, but the iPad 4 is pretty tricky when it comes to hubs since it was released before iPad OS. I will be waiting very happily to this update! Will it come to iPad 4? About iOS 10

(Also, I’d like to suggest a option of being able to like a comment and mark it as the definitive answer. Your answer was stict to point, thank you)

Are you upgrading from v1.0.44 to v1.0.70?
Please try to uninstall first the old existing version that is installed on your primary Machine. You can do this via v1.0.44 msi installer (remove) or via the Control panel then try to install the latest spacedesk Windows Driver version.

For further assistance, please refer to the chapters “UNINSTALL ON WINDOWS PRRIMARY MACHINE” paragraphs “Uninstall Using .Msi File” (https://manual.spacedesk.net/UninstallUsingMsiFile.html) and “Uninstall Using Windows Control Panel” (https://manual.spacedesk.net/UninstallUsingWindowsControlPane.html).

Version failed to install on Windows 10:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
    Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045 (22H2)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Driver Version 31.0.15.3667 (536.99)
Motherboard Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Z590 GAMING X

First fail happen on update from 1.0.44 version, then the previous version was fully uninstalled. Rebooted several times. Old version (1.0.44) installs without any problem (but the image is b/w because of deprecation). Is there the way to download newer but not the last version on Spacedesktop drivers?

    hi christian,

there is no special event triggering the high cpu load. it just occurs by the time while displaying just a static windows desktop. spacedesk viewer quality settings: image quality 100, encoding color depth: high color quality, slow speed (yuv 4.4.4), custom fps rate: 60 fps. the spacedesk server machine is a dual gpu (intel hd graphics 530 + nvidia quadro m4000m). as i am currently back on 1.0.67 i will post screenshot of the high cpu load plus diagnostics data later on.

Can the “X” be removed from the full-screen view? While running it on Windows 10, I must use the Windows 7 version for Audio Support. The issue I am having is that I am running a PowerPoint Presentation from my laptop to the computer acting as the display. The PPT displays a page number for my class to follow along with, and the “X” happens to be placed right over the page number. I am unable to edit the PowerPoint to move the page number.

    HI @unphazed2,

Does it only happen in the new spacedesk Driver v1.0.69? Does it disconnect even with continuous screen update in the viewer app? Or only during idle time?
For further analysis, please send us the diagnostic logs of the issue.
    Just follow the steps below:
    – open the spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – try to connect your viewer app and reproduce the disconnecting issue
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click Save All Information button
PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

    Hello!

I had 1.067 installed, worked great, but 30hz refresh rate left more to be desired. The app informed me that an update was available, and after updating, I found 60hz and was satisfied. However, after updating, the tablet I am using (Fire HD 10 Tablet 2019) disconnected for 1s every 10 minutes or so. I have now reverted back to the previous version. I just wanted to share.

    OS: Win 11 Pro
Tablet: Fire HD 10 2017 (novalauncher and Google Play Pack installed)

Hey Christian, thanks for the reply.

I’m using the Windows 7 viewer, although I’m on Windows 10. The problem is I cannot access the MS Store to download the Windows 10 client. If there is a direct download link I could use, please let me know.

    #23374

    Hi @joe,

Which viewer are you using with your Windows tablet? Windows 7/Windows 10?
The problem you are encountering is a known issue on some touchscreen-capable Windows clients, and we already have a fix for it. We will include the fix in one of the future releases of spacedesk Viewers and will notify you once it is ready for download.

Thanks for the derivation, Christian. So I’ve tried dialing down my settings to 0 image quality and low bit color and it still feels like there is a noticeable amount of latency on my 1GbE connection. I don’t want to drop to 30Hz because that will defeat the purpose. I monitor the statistics and it seems I can’t ever get above 20fps. Does Spacedesk cap FPS? Is there anything else I can adjust to make this seem like more of a seamless connection or do I need to go buy some 10GbE adapters or is this just a limitation of the software? Thanks

    #23320

    Hi @talakazamadsa,

Thanks for reporting this issue, we will be investigating this on our side.
-Could you please check if there’s a recent *.dmp file found in “C:\Windows\minidump” folder and in “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\WDF” folder. Just check the most recent one with timestamp today, zip it and send it to us.
-Could you also monitor the spacedeskService.exe’s Dedicated and Shared GPU Memory for any leaks before it crashes? or how high does it get before the crash? just go to task manager > details > right click on the column header > ‘select columns’ and check the Dedicated and Shared GPU memory.

For the meantime, here are some things you can try for your game…
    1. is your VPN active while playing the game? if so, please try to disable it and restart both programs.
    2. try to allocate more system resources for the game by
    – running the game > minimize it and go to task manager
    > go to the details tab and locate the Valorant.exe > right click on that process and select ‘High’ under the ‘set priority option’
    3. try to recalibrate your in-game settings specifically in the graphics sections..if you are using high settings, try to use medium for all graphic settings.
    4. check again for any pending driver update in Nvidia.

    Hi @dougw03,

Sending uncompressed data at high resolution (2880×1920) and frame rates of 60 Hz (60 frames per second) is still too heavy a burden for many networks even nowadays.

You can do the calculation for yourself:
    – Every pixel has 3 bytes (when using 4-4-4)
    – One frame needs 5,529,600 pixels (2880×1920 resolution)
    – One frame needs 16,588,800 byte (5,529,600 pixels x 3 byte)
    – One second needs * 995,328,000 byte (16,588,800 byte x 60 frames)
    – One second needs * 7,962,624,000 bit (995,328,000 byte x 8 bit)

Your maximum raw network bandwidth requirement needed for this scenario is 8 GBit/sec
In addition to this, there comes the delay caused by CPU load doing JPEG image compression.
At JPEG 100% and 4-4-4 there is maximum CPU load for image compression but still minimum reduction of image size.

Good evening everyone! I want to transmit the sound from my main computer to my secondary computer, and this was working, but for no apparent reason, the “AUDIO SPEAKER” option was disabled, I tried to reinstall several times and delete the cache files, but every time I install the old ones come back settings and continues with “AUDIO SPEAKER” disabled.
PS: My PC is Windows 10, but I used the Windows 7 version, and it worked perfectly a few hours ago.

Multi-touch feature is yet to be supported in iOS. As of now, only the Windows 10 viewer and Android viewer app support multi-touch. We will let you know once this feature becomes available in iOS.
On the other hand, Could you try to disable the pen input in the spacedesk iOS app settings for your touch problem? just tap the gear icon > input device > click the pen icon and disable it.

Hello, I have configured my Surface Pro 8 to be my second monitor and am using an ethernet crossover cable with GigE on both ends. I want to use the surface pro at full res (2880×1920), 60Hz, 4:4:4 and no quality compression. Even with GigE, I’m finding that the display stutters quite a bit and can be laggy. Do I need to upgrade to 2.5G (or 10G?) to make things work smoothly? Thanks

    Hi @lazar501,
Not sure if Chromebook supports USB tethering.
If it is, try to setup a direct private network connection between your Windows primary machine and Chromebook via USB cable.
To setup USB tethering please check the chapter “USB Tethering” in our user manual – https://manual.spacedesk.net/USBTetheringiOSandAndroid.html

    Hello,
i have some write thiss you can see this.
It seems like you are using OBS to stream a window source from a virtual monitor while gaming on your main physical monitor. However, you are facing issues with the virtual monitor disconnecting if you don’t keep a browser running an HTML viewer of the virtual monitor. Here are some suggestions to troubleshoot and improve your setup:

Driver and Software Updates: Make sure that your graphics driver, OBS, and any related software are up-to-date. Newer versions may include bug fixes and improvements that could resolve the disconnecting issue.

Virtual Monitor Software: Check if there are any updates or alternative virtual monitor software that might provide better stability and compatibility with Windows 11 and your specific GPU (RTX 3070).

Virtual Monitor Resolution: Since the virtual monitor is set to 1024×768, it’s possible that OBS or the graphics driver is having trouble maintaining the connection due to the resolution mismatch. Try setting the virtual monitor to a higher resolution that is closer to your physical monitor’s resolution (3440×1440). You can do this in the Windows display settings.

Test Different HTML Viewers: If the virtual monitor requires an HTML viewer to stay connected, try different HTML viewer options to see if some are more stable than others.

Keep Browser Open in Background: Instead of running the HTML viewer directly, try keeping a browser window open in the background with the virtual monitor’s page loaded. Sometimes, keeping the browser running without the HTML viewer extension may also help maintain the connection.

Check Power Settings: Verify that your computer’s power settings are not causing the virtual monitor or OBS to disconnect when the system goes to sleep or enters a low-power state. Adjust power settings to prevent such interruptions.

Test with Different Virtual Monitor Resolutions: Experiment with different virtual monitor resolutions to see if there is a specific resolution that works more reliably with your setup.

Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to the support team for OBS or the virtual monitor software. They may have insights into the specific compatibility or configuration issues.

Remember that virtual monitors can sometimes be finicky, and compatibility issues may arise with certain setups. Troubleshooting may involve trial and error to find the most stable configuration for your use case.

    Hi @target200,

You could try Enabling Videowall and set the Videowall Disconnect Delay to -1 (equivalent to infinite) in spacedesk Driver Console Window.
With disconnect delay set to infinite, it will not unplug the virtual display in your primary machine even after disconnecting the viewer app in your secondary machine. It will only unplug upon spacedesk server switch (OFF-ON) or machine reboot.

Then after setting up a fixed virtual display, you can manually move or put a specific software in the display, then it will stay there until the display unplugs.

I’m just curious, what is causing network traffic when the Windows Taskbar is shown on the Spacedesk client monitor, even when there is no other window on same?

If I set Taskbar to “Automatically hide,” then there is almost no network traffic, but once Taskbar is shown then Spacedesk is constantly streaming ~6.5Mbps.

My setup: Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro (i7-4500U, 8GB), Windows 11 Home, wired 1GB ethernet LAN. Apple iPad MC955LL/A, iPadOS v9.3.5(13G36)

Thanks for such a handy app!

    Hi Christian,
I’ve encountered this issue on two Windows 11 PCs and with two tablets : a Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e (SM-T720) on Android 11 and a Samsung Galaxy TabA 2018 (SM-T590) on Android 10. The Unreal Engine versions were 5.1 then 5.2.

I’ve just run a few tests and I haven’t managed to reproduce the problem on other software (Blender and Photoshop), or at least the softwares have continued to work correctly. It’s hard to say whether inputs remain blocked when you don’t have graphical feedback.

I can add that before coming to you I thought the problem was with Unreal but I haven’t found any problems similar to mine on the forums and no-one has been able to help me. And as I said before, I did a test with another software (Google Desktop remote) which was less efficient than yours but didn’t have this problem of blocked inputs.

Finally, I don’t know if you’re familiar with Unreal, so if you need help creating a touch project or if you want me to send you a ready-made project, don’t hesitate.

    Hello.
    Archived dxdiag report.
The directory C:\Windows\minidump is empty. Perhaps because after the BSOD I did a “System Restore”.
I can install SpaceDesk again and check the connection. And I’ll check what will be in C:\Windows\minidump.
    Should I do it?
I have additional monitors connected to the HDMI D-SUB connectors, but I don’t have enough of them.
Q: Should I turn off the monitors before checking?
    * * *
    Здравствуйте.
    Отчет dxdiag в архиве.
Директория C:\Windows\minidump пуста. Возможно потому, что после BSOD я делал “Восстановление системы”.
Могу вновь установить SpaceDesk и проверить подключение. И проверю что будет в C:\Windows\minidump.
    Мне сделать это?
У меня подключены дополнительные мониторы на разъемы HDMI D-SUB, но мне их не хватает.
Вопрос: мне отключить мониторы перед проверкой?

    – run dxdiag.exe on your primary machine, click “Save All Information”, save the output file (dxdiag.txt)
    – most recent dump file (*.dmp) of your BSOD with spacedesk which is located in C:\Windows\minidump folder.
Please save all requested files in one folder, then right-click -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

I’m getting this error when trying to reach the viewer.spacedesk.net website from my Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 11 machines: “This site can’t provide a secure connectionviewer.spacedesk.net uses an unsupported protocol.
    ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH
    Unsupported protocol
The client and server don’t support a common SSL protocol version or cipher suite.”

I’m using the latest version of Chrome for both systems; I also tried on Firefox and it gave a similar message. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

This has become a problem for me as well causing a crash if I don’t manually restart SpaceDesk every so often. The used virtual memory will hit a limit at some point and Windows will crash. This usually takes 2 – 4 weeks of up time and 32 or 64 TB of GPU virtual memory allocated at which point Windows 11 runs out of resources and the system crashes with a Blue Screen of Death. I have created a manual task that kills the SpaceDesk process and restarts it at every resume from sleep and that has elliminated the issue, but it is still annoying. The Virtual Memory counter in Windows keeps creeping up indefinitely until the system crashes. Before a system crash, other applications like games start to run into issues with insufficient GPU memory error and just the game will crash. This is the only application that exhibits this behavior of 10K – 50K of virtual memory increase every second.
