    Hi @andyandy201,
it seems like you have your secondary machine’s display orientation in portrait mode.
to change this, just go to windows settings > system > display > then select your second monitor in the screen (usually display as number 2) > scroll down to display orientation > select landscape

    Hi
I have 2 laptop computers which runs on the Windows 11 22H2 or 23H2.
First one is Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 1 (1920*1080, no touch), second one is Samsung Galaxy Book Edu 360 (2560*1600, touch and pen, 360 turn)

My problem occurred when I connected my T14s Gen 1 (server) to Samsung device. As you can see on the png file it can’t be used. But when I connected Samsung device (server) to T14s gen 1 it worked as fine.

Can you guys please help me with this problem.
    It is driving me bad.

    Thank you.

Short supplement to the previous answer: Maybe you installed version v2.1.5 of spacedesk Driver on your Windows Machine? v2.1.5 had a bug. Possibly it always shows licensing message maximized after every single Viewer connection. If you have v2.1.5 on your Windows Primary Machine, then please update to 2.1.6 Please let us know if this helped.

    Hi @glda19,
In the custom resolution list, it will only show the resolution not bigger than your device’s native screen resolution which is 2000×1200.

1280×780 seems to have the same aspect ratio as your device’s screen.

I have two Microsoft Studio 2 PCs and want to extend the display from one to the other. They are both 4500×3000 dpi. When I run spacedesk at the native resolution I get a black screen. on the extended display.
Any ideas on how to make this work?

Yes, I have reinstalled the Spacedesk app for assurance. However only 2 out of 3 of my android devices work on Native USB:

    1. Redmi K20 Pro on custom ROM (works on both LAN & native USB)
    2. Huawei Mate 10 Pro on stock ROM (works on both LAN & native USB)
    3. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 hlte on custom ROM (works only on LAN but not native USB)

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 seemed to have connected to the server as the touch was responsive on duplicate screen. However only black screen was shown the client. I have reinstalled Samsung USB driver, readjusted the resolution and used new USB cable. I still couldn’t get any picture to show on client. The connection seemed to only lasts for about 1 min then abruptly dropped off, however the client side doesn’t seem to show it was disconnected. Only 0 connections were shown on the spacedesk driver console.

    Hi @evalexan,
For #1, Could you tell us what resolution are you using? maybe you can try a smaller resolution and see if the performance will improve. Could you also check if videowall is enabled in spacedesk Driver Console, if yes, please try to disable it.
if possible, could you also provide us with diagnostic info, just follow the steps below:
spacedesk Console > Diagnostics > click “Save all information” (you do not have to enable the ‘diagnostic collection’ option) > click NO on the pop-up admin privileges permission then save the output in a single zip file and send it to us.

For #2. The non-commercial window pop-up is designed to remain visible in the taskbar unless you are using a viewer with a commercial license. minimizing it is the only thing to do, this behavior is expected for users who uses free versions or non-commercial viewers, and the only way to remove this window is by switching to a commercial-type viewer.

Hello there! First of all, thank you for an amazing app and all your work.

    I have 2 questions:
    1. I’ve been using SpaceDesk (USB, Android) as a second monitor for my Windows laptop. It seems like my laptop is working harder than when I use a regular second monitor with HDMI/DisplayPort. When playing a game on my main monitor and running even some lightweight apps on the SpaceDesk monitor, I notice a ~20% in-game fps drop. Is SpaceDesk generally more resource-intensive than a standard monitor setup?

    2. When connecting my Android Tablet, an icon labeled “Non-Commercial Viewer connected” shows up on the taskbar, and I can’t hide it. Is it possible to hide it? I found previous posts about a similar problem, but I think they were referring to the connection window.

    #25062

    Hi @right,
we found traces that indicates a crash with your windows viewer,
To further investigate the cause, could you please check if there are any spacedeskWindowsVIEWER.exe.xxxx.dmp files created in the following directories of your secondary machine:
    – C:\Users\\AppData\Local\CrashDumps
    – C:\WINDOWS\System32\Config\SystemProfile\AppData\Local\CrashDumps

If you find one or more dumps, please send it as *.zip file.

    #25058

    Hi @rageven,
It seems you are still using an old spacedesk Windows Driver, we are now at v1.2.05.
in the current version, it enables you to permanently hide taskbar icon. please make sure to always update your spacedesk Windows Driver

For your other concern, currently we do not have an option for our clients (viewers) to manually start at boot time. however, I believe that this can be achieve using some of windows settings.

    Hi @right,
Thank you very much for sending the requested info.
For further analysis, could you also please send us a DebugView logs of your secondary machine/laptop?
    Just follow the steps below:
    – download DebugView app here: https://download.sysinternals.com/files/DebugView.zip
    – extract the files from the zipped folder
    – run the Dbgview.exe as Administrator
    – make sure to only check the Capture -> Capture Win32 and Capture Events
    – while DebugView is open, please run the spacedesk Windows 7 Viewer app and try to recreate the issue
    – you should find some “SA [xxxx:xxxx] …” traces in the DebugView, please save the logs (as .txt file) and send it to us.

Does Spacedesk can handle high usb speeds?
I have connected my tablet (usb type-c 3.1) to my laptop (usb4) with various cables/ports, but none of them gave speed higher, than 425mbit.
Is it my problem or there are software limitations?

Those instructions that you refer to are irrelevant if I can’t install the Windows driver on the Primary machine.
I have resend the Zip files, hopefully you will be able to open then and find the issue.

Here are the Pop pup that are showing during installation.

    1) “An earlier version of Spacedeck is already installed” ” Continue and update spacedesk Window Drivers?”
    2) During installation I get “The specified account already exits” then I press “OK”
    3) The following pop up An error has been encountered while installing spacedeck driver, installation will be stop” Then I press “OK”
    4) Then the following is display ” Spacedesk Windows DRIVER Setup Wizard ended prematurely”

Personally I feel like I can provide an answer to your questions.

I personally use SpaceDesk to use my phone and SteamDeck as screens, BUT also for “docking” my steamdeck wirelessly without needing to go out and buy an actual dock.

I love that I can use my main monitor, keyboard and mouse as if they were directly connected to the deck and better yet I can switch between my main rig and my deck seemlessly, something only expensive KVM switches can do.

If you were to allow for higher framerates as an “expert” or experimental feature, I could actually use my main monitor’s 144hz with games on my Deck. That way I can play games at the deck’s native resolution (720p) but at my monitor’s native framerate.

I and a lot of other people who have or have had low-spec machines are well aware of the tradeoffs needed for higher refreshrates and we would gladly sacrifice resolution to get that better framerate.

The magic of spacedesk in my eyes is turning any semi-competent toaster with a screen into an addition to your host PC, allowing users that understand what they’re doing to get more out of the software only improves it in my opinion.

    I am not jonas2023.

Actually, I downloaded directly to my desktop and launched from there. I deactivated onedrive a long time ago, but it looks like I started the MSI package from onedrive. That surprises me very much. maybe there is a mistake by msi installer from windows.

    Hi there!

1.) Pinch to disconnect function is gone?
About two version ago the funger pinch to disconnect function is not working on ipad anymore. Maybe it is connected to the change to always show the overlay button for a few seconds?
Now the only way to disconnect the app is to quit from it, and when you reopen it the overlay button is visible for a short time and click disconnect there.

2.) App disconnect around every minute when idle
While my desktop app has a 300 seconds idle timeout the app disconnects and automatically reconnect around every minute.

    3.) Minor app crash bug
If I disconnect the app but didn’t close the disconnection popup, just minimize the app and reopen it (not right away, it need more time!) it crashes and I need to open it again.

4.) Minor: Desktop app idle timeout change
This change needs an enter pushed after change, it would be much easier if it could be saved on changed state.

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Hi @wilo70,

based on your logs, it cannot move the spacedeskService binary from your programfiles to System32 folder.
also, did you reboot your machine after you uninstall spacedesk?

You might want to try the following:
    1. reboot your machine after you uninstall
    2. run the spacedesk installer and change the destination folder

I’m reviving an older Toshiba Satellite laptop running W7 for use again. I have Spacedesk running on other current W11 laptops and it runs perfectly however with this install under W7 it fails at the same point constantly.

I mirror to Sony Android TV’s and all the other work fine with no issues. I ran the install with the TV app running and it does show up the name of the laptop and the correct IP address on my network however when it’s selected on the TV it displays as “screen is off” and disconnects so something is getting through but its failing at the install point on the laptop.

Ive included a compiled screenshot of the popups that come up plus system info however one warning does state a software failure and the .msi is listed as a beta version.

Seems to have worked. I was able to install version 2.1.0.1 using winget install Datronicsoft.SpacedeskDriver.Server.

Still thinking this would have been easier if I would just have copied spacedesk_driver_Win_10_64_v1067_BETA.msi into C:\Users\Alter\AppData\Local\Temp\WinGet\.

Does ″free″ here mean something different from the BETA version(spacedesk_driver_Win_10_64_v2101 and spacedeskWindowsVIEWER_v0943_BETA)?

Yes, this configuration (spacedesk_driver_Win_10_64_v2101 and spacedeskWindowsVIEWER_v0943_BETA) can be used for free until it will expire. No matter if business or private use. Expiry date of free spacedesk versions is always shown in spacedesk Driver Console (December 2024 for this configuration).

    In General:
Free spacedesk versions always have an expiry date. Paid business versions do not expire.
After the expiry date, spacedesk free versions will still work. However they will not show any colors on the screen any more. They will look like an ancient Black and White Television.

    Hi @aligale,
Based on the attached screenshot, you have Nvidia Shadowplay installed. Could you maybe try to disable it on Nvidia GeForce Experience app? then maybe reboot your primary machine and try again with spacedesk.

also, if you want to use a wired connection with your Ipad, please update your spacedesk Windows Driver to version 2.1.0.0, this update already has the native iOS USB support. you don’t have to use USB tethering to connect your iOS anymore.

Christian, sorry it seems I sent this message bit too hastily. I realized that it seems ethernet adapters do not show up under communication interfaces (although shouldn’t they?).

After I posted my last message, I rebooted my server and my client still would not connect. I had to reboot my client for it to recognize my server. In fact this is the second time this happened in the past two days. I checked microsoft store and am using the latest client. I just updated to v2.1.0.0 server and will let you know if that helps for whatever reason, but I suspect my issue is on the client side. Is there any way to send diagnostics on the client side? I have admin rights on my client PC in case it helps.

    Hi @compexpert,
To make it clear, there was no problem with uninstall. The error occurs during the installation stage, and it fails because it cannot find the files generated in the destination folder.

In this case, please try the following:
    1. Do not upgrade from old version to another. instead, completely uninstall spacedesk first via previous msi or Programs & Features
    2. Generate msi trace (msiexec.exe) of the spacedesk MSI installer while spacedesk is installing.
to do this, please download the spacedeskMsiTraceGenerate.zip here:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/vr17lj6n63k52rh/2022_spacedeskMsiTraceGenerate.zip?dl=0
    – extract the zip file
    – copy the spacedesk MSI installer you will use to install inside the folder then click the get_trace.bat
    – the script will prompt you to enter the MSI file name then press enter
    – it will run the spacedesk installer
    – change the destination folder (check if the destination folder is created)
    – if you encounter the error again, please send the spacedeskmsi_trace.txt generated inside the folder together with the dxdiag file and setupapi.dev.log file located in C:\Windows\INF

    Hi @vivid,

spacedesk Android USB should work with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports and cables.
Have you tried troubleshooting your USB 3.1 port? does it work with file transfer?
Could you also try plugging it on your USB 3.1 port and check spacedesk Android Control in device manager if there are any errors (indicated by an exclamation mark).

The Android USB connection only works when plugged into the USB2.0 port of my PC and not with USB3.1 (3.0). Is this expected behavior?
I tried “slowly plug and unplug USB cable a few times” as in the documentation and it works since it forces my USB3.1 cable to be recognized as USB2.0.

    Hi @flyingace63,

The “X” button found on upper right corner of windows viewer when in full screen mode is currently intended for Windows (Surface) tablet that don’t have keyboard attached and no way to exit from full screen mode.
We will improve this feature very soon.
In case you want to disable it, we can only suggest 2 things:
    – only maximize the spacedesk viewer window instead of full screen mode, OR
    – if you are not using the touch feature, maybe you can disable it in viewer’s Functionality settings (temporarily), if you want to go to full screen mode.

    Hi @santiiju2,

    Hi @demon518336,

    For blackscreen issues,
    – open the Windows Display Settings on your primary machine and check if the spacedesk display is detached/grayed out, and if it’s detached just attach it by selecting extend or duplicate
    – check for any incompatible software, just run the spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics -> Incompatible Software Products

For the failed installation of 32-bit version, is there any error that pops up? what does it say?
Could you try restarting your PC and then try to install again? there may be a pending reboot in your system..

If that doesn’t work, please provide us with the following files:
    – run dxdiag.exe on your primary machine, click “Save all information” and send us the output file
    – spacedeskSetup.log file located in C:\Users\Public
    – setupapi.dev.log file located in C:\Windows\INF

Please save all requested files in one folder, then right-click -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.
