I was just using it normally with mouse and keyboard and then i gave touch input from my android tablet(secondary) and multiple transparent boxes appeared that will not go away. I have even tried reinstalling the app on my tablet but its not going away. I will attach a screenshot here.

I use a Samsung S6 light 10 inch tablet. I connect using a USB connector. I’ve always bought my USB cables based on type and power capacity. I never thought that most USB C cables only support USB 2.0 data rates (480 Mbps). This speed requires that I limit to 30 fps, use 16 bit color, and some compression in order to use native tablet resolution.

It works fine for most games I play (I’m not into multiplayer FPS type games). The only issue I’ve had is some games that insist on always using the primary display but I don’t want the tablet as my primary display.

I would assume a USB C cable that can handle USB 3.0 speeds of 5 Gbps or faster would allow my to run the tablets at maximum settings. A 10 Gbps USB cable should be able to do at least 4k 60 Hz.

So determining if gaming will work for you requires knowing what performance you want, what hardware you want and what connection type and cable you have available. Unless you have a very fast WIFI 6/6E connection available for both devices you probably want a wired connection. Plus why destroy your WIFI performance trying to run 1080P wireless monitor.

Another advantage for using USB between your server machine and a client tablet is that the server will keep the client charged using the same USB cable. You can get long USB cables of 10+ feet if you want the remote client across the room from your server.

As for anti-cheat software and multi-monitor I know of no games that have this (there may be games that don’t allow multi-monitor for some weird reason). I can say if you see people streaming your game on twitch or YouTube you can be 99.99% confident that they use 1 monitor for the game and at least 1, if not 2, monitors to watch chat and control the streaming software (usually OBS). Perhaps a few just getting started streaming will use a 4k monitor, running the game, chat and OBS in windows. If they are serious they likely will quickly buy an $80 1080p or an $110 1440P monitor for chat and OBS as running everything in windows on one monitor really sucks.

So, let me make sure that I’m understanding this correctly:
In updating the Windows 11 driver to v2.1.11, it breaks the connection for input from networked devices, such as the remote controls of the Amazon Fire TVs that we’re mirroring the Windows laptop to. The updated aspect of the driver that breaks that connection requires a business license on those peripherals to restore functionality…but that business license doesn’t exist for the Amazon peripherals that the driver update has rendered inert?

Is there a way to access & rollback to an older Win11 driver version, until business license support for Amazon devices has been provided? Because otherwise, that means Spacedesk has effectively taken away functionality to devices without providing the option to purchase & restore that functionality.

In my case, I didn’t notice any difference regardless of the changes I made in the settings. My tablet has the same resolution of 2000×1200, and switching between resolutions didn’t make any difference. I use my tablet as a third monitor, displaying only the information I need to keep an eye on without requiring much interaction. Despite configuring it with the “fast” settings, it remains slow when I attempt to perform work on the tablet.

In my opinion, it’s best to use the tablet as a monitor solely for keeping notes, reminders, or anything that doesn’t require much interaction.

    Hi @thegamingguy,
The effectiveness of using a tablet as a secondary monitor depends on factors like Wi-Fi stability, resolution, device specifications, and software compatibility.

Drawbacks include the need for a stable Wi-Fi connection, affecting game performance.
But for optimal gaming experience, wired connections like USB or Ethernet cables are recommended.

Regarding anti-cheat systems, using a second monitor isn’t considered cheating unless displaying game information not normally accessible or uses suspicious software. there have been no reports from other users indicating that spacedesk has triggered violations in the anti-cheat systems of their games so far.

Has anyone experimented with utilizing a tablet as a secondary monitor for gaming purposes? I’m interested in extending my gaming setup without investing in another physical monitor. Specifically, I’m curious about the practicality, effectiveness, and potential drawbacks of this setup.

Furthermore, I’m concerned about whether employing a tablet as a secondary display might trigger any anticheat software in games. Are there any known instances of anticheat systems flagging such configurations as suspicious or potentially violating terms of service?

I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has tried this setup or has insights into the compatibility and safety aspects, particularly regarding anticheat measures.

    Hi @zerogravity994,

spacedesk is free for private non-commercial use. Only free version does expire. Paid business license does not expire.

Currently availability of business license is limited to Google Play Store for Android. Soon, iOS and Windows business version will follow in Apple Store and Microsoft Store. In the meantime iOS and Windows Viewers can be used for free even by business users.

Upon expiry, screen will turn to black and white (no more colors). This only happens in the non-commercial version of the Viewer.

Upon expiry a new version of the spacedesk Driver needs to be downloaded from the spacedesk website.

Hi . I finally found the solution to broadcast cameras on the echoshow 15 through this phenomenal application. On the PC where the server is hosted I noticed that the expiry date is set for January 31, 2024. Can I purchase a license or is it free for personal use?

    Hi @timlastoria-com,
Unfortunately, we cannot view the attached pic as it exceeds the allowed file size. Could you maybe compress it in a zip file and sent it to us again?

To clear your browser’s cached files, images, and cookies, just follow the steps below:
open tesla browser -> on the upper right corner, you will see the kebab menu (three dots) -> click it and go to settings -> navigate to ‘Privacy and security’ -> click Clear browsing data -> change the time range to ‘All time’ -> check the options (cached files, images, and cookies) -> click ‘Clear data’ -> after that restart your browser then try again with the html5 viewer

    Hi @paulofloresjunior,
we don’t have specific performance data for the chipsets you mentioned, overall performance of an Android TV Box is influenced by several factors, like the chipset, the amount of RAM, and most of all, the network connection. The chipsets you’ve listed are capable of handling 4K video playback smoothly, but in the end, the network speed will still determine the performance and speed.

    Hi,

I found a lot of models of Android TV Box in aliexpress and similar sites, there is a lot of ARM chipset models also, like Amlogic S905X4, Rockchip RK3566, Amlogic S928X, Amlogic S922X, Amlogic S905W4, etc…
I want to know if has any performance comparison between these chips because I want to play videos smoothly.
The amount of RAM is important also to improve performance?

    Best regards

Hi, due to some problems with my previous windows, I clean-installed windows 11 23H2 version and then installed apple devices app from microsoft store (so there is no effects of iTunes on my windows). Then tried connecting my iPad to my pc and after windows auto-driver installation (windows updates) and some restarts, checked iPad connection with windows and everything was good. After that, downloaded and installed v.2.1.12 but still have previous problem with the “Apple Mobile Device Service/Process is not running. Please download and install iTunes.” message.
Today morning, tried to connect with USB again and client version of spacedesk on iPad could not recognize USB connection. So I turned off and on the “USB Cable iOS” option in spacedesk server app on windows, then I had the pop up on iPad and everything was fine.
So I think the bug still persist =D
    ———————
I also have an other issue on every versions from old to new one.
I’ve set windows (power plan) “turn off screen time out” on 3 minutes and “sleep timeout” on “never”.
After 3 minutes, my laptop screen goes black; but it’s still working. On my iPad I receive a message that says “connected – screen off” and the message is permanent until I move my mouse so my laptop screen is turned on again. I think in future I will have the burn-in problem on my iPad screen (the burn-in issue is a common problem in LCDs and you will see a shadow of some permanent elements of UI e.g. battery icon on status bar even you change the background). please add an option to the client spacedesk app to turn off this message, so it will be only a blank screen on second display and it will be healthier for LCDs and AMOLED displays.
    ——————–
thanks a lot for your excellent support.

I stumbled on this product and tried to get it setup on my Windows laptop and connect from the Tesla (2021 Model S) browser. I have a T-Mobile hotspot (192.168.12.1/24) that both the laptop and Tesla are connected to. When I try to connect to my laptop on 192.168.12.143, it times out. If I connect from my Pixel Fold, it works as expected. I’m guessing that there is something with the Tesla browser (which is Chromium-based) preventing it from working.

I’m wondering if anyone else has tried. Devs, is this something you can look at fixing with the HTML5 client?

    Hi @nag,
Could you please check the following?
    – double check if both of your primary and secondary machines are connected within the same local area network
    – see if spacedesk or C:\Program Files\datronicsoft\spacedesk\spacedeskService.exe is included in antivirus or firewall’s exception list. this is to allow spacedesk service to establish incoming and outgoing connections
    – If you have VPN (Virtual Private Network) active in your machine, please disable it
    – please make sure your wifi router has client isolation disabled
    – check if your current Network profile in your primary machine is Public, if so, switch it to Private. you can navigate this options by going to Windows Settings -> Internet & Network

    Hello,
Thank you for the wonderful app. Thanks to Spacedesk, I’ve had a great experience.
Suddenly, around 10 p.m. on February 18, 2024, Japan time, I found that while I can still connect via USB with my Android tablet, I’m unable to connect wirelessly.
I’ve confirmed that there are no issues with the firewall settings of my security software. Even after updating to the latest version and reinstalling the app for the secondary machine, the issue persists.
Could you please advise on the possible causes and solutions?
    Best regards.

    Hi @renamis,
The non-commercial window pop-up is designed to remain visible in the taskbar unless you are using a viewer with a commercial license.
Minimizing it is the only thing to do, this behavior is expected for users who uses free versions or non-commercial viewers, and the only way to remove this window is by switching to a commercial-type viewer.

We mirror a Windows 11 laptop wirelessly to 4 Android Fire TVs, via MonitorsAnywhere & the Spacedesk app on those TVs. The laptop mirrors a Google Slide presentation to those TVs in full screen Slideshow mode. The remote controls for those TVs are used to scroll through the slide presentations via the directional controls on the remotes. However, upon updating the Spacedesk driver today to v2.1.11, the remotes can no longer scroll through those slides. The slides can be advanced via the laptop, but the remotes no longer work in this manner. Just to be clear, this functionality was working today right up until initiating the v2.1.11 driver update…this was the only change made, & now this specific remote functionality is dead.

Is there a reason why this would’ve happened? I’ve tried repairing the driver install, but the remotes still do not work. They were working on the previous Spacedesk driver version (2.0.8.x I believe, installed about a month ago). I can’t find a way to rollback the current version to that prior working version, nor can I find where to download any prior driver versions directly from Spacedesk.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Win 11, Spacedesk 2.1.11, Samsung galaxy tab A with S pen, Android 8.1
Using power point 2007 (a bit old I know, but heavily customized and payed for)
The problem is when in the slide show on a projector, using the pen to write on the slides (on the tablet) the writing does not show on the projector, only on the presenter view, plus whenever I remove the pen away of the screen the slide turns to the next one.
I would like to be able to write and annotate on the projected slides and do the next/previous slide either by swiping or using the arrows on the presentation screen NOT by the pen touching the screen.
    Appreciate your help.

As said, I can’t make that obnoxious window vanish. We can hide the connection window, but not that apparently. How and/or when will I be able to remove the obnoxious thing from my taskbar? Do I need the commercial version, or if I buy the commercial version am I stuck with a pop up saying I have the commercial version?

    Hi @sbertin930,
How do you connect your Android device? is it via USB or Wifi?
if it is via USB, could you please try unplugging your device -> turn off Android/iOS USB option in the Console -> turn on USB -> plug your device again.

since its a newly reinstalled windows 10, do you maybe have Nvidia ShadowPlay installed on your machine?
Could you please check for any incompatible software, just run the spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics -> Incompatible Software Products. if there is, please uninstall or disable it and try again with spacedesk

if the above suggestion did not work, please send us the Diagnostic logs of this Issue.
    Just follow the steps below:
    – open spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – reproduce the blackscreen issue.
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click Save All Information button (if a message box appears, just click No to proceed)

Thank you very much for sending the requested files.

“If I slowly insert the USB 3.0 TYPE-A, it can be recognized at this time, but the reason for this recognition is that slow insertion will be recognized as USB 2.0”

-What version is your USB port? the reason for this could be that while USB 2.0 ports are compatible with USB 3.0 it will still be limited at the transfer speed of your USB 2.0 port hence it is being recognized as 2.0

the real issue here is the non-working cable when spacedesk is plugged..
the text file DebugView.log is missing from the files you sent. did you make sure to reproduce the issue before you turn off the diagnostic collection?
Could you please send us the files again? this time, make sure to reproduce it using your 3.0 cables. just follow the steps provided on my previous reply.

I can get one connected with both touch screens. Actions:
    1. I will try to disconnect both touch screens and see what happens.
    2. I will also try rebooting the ipads.

es it closes when I am on the second ipad (whichever one is not recognizing as a touch monitor). Its weird bc it worked out of the box flawlessly, not sure how this happened. I will report back. Thankful for your willingness to jump in on the help!

Hi, and thanks for the quick reply.

Ok, that’s disappointing, but not entirely unexpected, so I guess it’s on to plan B!

I’m thinking about installing Virtualbox on Linux, then installing Windows as a virtual OS, and putting Spacedesk on that.

Aside from the fact that it will probably be dog slow, can anybody see a fatal flaw in my plan?

Or, as an alternative, should plan B fail, do we collectively know of an alternative to Spacedesk *gasp* that runs on the Raspberry Pi?

I will ask the question on the Pi forum as well, just to cover my bases.

    Thanks again,

    John.

    #25742

    Hi @sethmtraut,

For clarifications, you have five hardwired monitors + two iPads (spacedesk) as monitors. two of the five monitors are touchscreen capable, is that right?
“will only recognize one at a time as a touch screen”
-could you try connecting iPad #1 together with the two touchscreens if the touchscreen is working? then disconnect and try iPad #2 if it is also working.
    – in case one of them is not working, please try checking the input settings of the iOS viewer if the touch screen is enabled. just go to the gear icon below -> Input devices

“When I go to tablet PC settings and try to tell it which ones are touch screens it faults out before getting to all monitors”
-During the Tablet PC Settings, does it close when it’s time for the iPad monitor? Could you please try going through the iPad screen first?
-Also, could you try excluding some monitors, or even the other two touchscreens before doing the Tablet PC Settings?
    – rebooting your iPads may also help

    #25739

    Hi @johnvella,
We haven’t tested this kind of setup with spacedesk. also, it seems like Raspberry Pi 4 is running on an ARM-based processor, current spacedesk Windows Driver and Viewers (except HTML5 viewer) don’t support ARM-based processors yet. so this setup might not work for now.

    Hi,

I’ve got a 4th generation iPad, which I want to use as a second monitor.

I tried using my Spacedesk on my laptop, which runs Windows 11, as a first test, and that worked great, however…

I would really like to be able to use my Raspberry Pi 4 and, in an ideal world, connect the iPad via USB. The USB part is not vital, but it would be nice, as I wouldn’t rely on WiFi too use the iPad.

I can install Windows 11 or Android on the Pi, as well as Linux, but I was wondering whether anybody here had tried it, and if so, did it work?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance,

    John.

Edit to add: I want to run Microsoft office, and there won’t be any gaming and minimal web browsing so speed shouldn’t be an issue.

    Good morning 🙂

I did what you said, except changing USB port.

I think the connection is going through USB because I have WiFi off in my tablet but for some reason “USB Connection” doesn’t recognize it, hence I see “USB (0 Copnnected)”

I’m not sure if I should still use a network IP to connect. Is the only way it works but I feel the connection should be faster cause once in a while the client app says the network is slow.

I’m just not sure what to expect. I just want to see that “USB” field as “USB (1 connected)” but never happened.

Here are the diagnostic files. I hope you can find anything useful there.
