Like the title says. Spacedesk randomly disconnects sometimes which is annoying but manages to completely freezes my system requiring me to reboot it in some unfortunate cases… GPU driver is up-to-date (4070ti, 531.41) Any clues on how to fix this? I use a Lenovo tab 10 to monitor my equalizer and monitor my temps…

    Hello!
The tablet is Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 3G, running some Android 6.0.1 build of AOSP (custom ROM, the stock one is way too outdated to use)
The phone is vivo Y12, running Android 11 build of FuntouchOS (stock ROM)

I tried both WiFi and USB connections, but I get the same result and on both devices. Can’t exactly tell the speed of internet connection, but my tablet is very old and so I can only broadly say that it’s slow. Phone is more or less modern, should be pretty fast.

Hope this helps, will wait patiently for a reply!

I have some weird issues with these forums as well….

    Hello!
It happens regardless of connection type and on both devices that I own.
Tablet is Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, running AOSP Android 6.0.1. It’s pretty old and has a pretty slow internet connection. Don’t know the exact values.
Phone is vivo Y12, running FuntouchOS Android 11

    Hi @dave_25
You can easily test the auto-reconnect feature, just switch OFF the spacedesk via spacedesk Driver Console app and the app should try to auto-reconnect to the server (showing “Disconnected – Reconnecting to 192.168.xx.xx in the viewer screen), and when you switch back ON it should reconnect properly.

    Hi SpaceDesk Lea,

I do have that option turned on all the tablets. I haven’t ensured I am running the correct version of the app though so I will check on that next time I am on site.

Is there a way I can test the disconnect function, as it is an intermittent issue with the router that is causing the disconnects, so I can’t really ‘test’ the reconnection feature, can you suggest a way to ‘test’ it?

    thanks

    Hi @aburastero,
spacedesk is still in BETA. BETA is free until it will expire (no matter if personal or corporate use).
Future pricing after BETA is not determined yet.

    Hello!
Here’s the requested diagnostic files, as well as the video with demonstration of this issue on my side:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RgLrcXp-SCqPjocHkkgY89D3RoyE9rb1/view?usp=sharing

A little hiccup happened when I tried to connect for the first time after enabling diagnostics – touchscreen stopped working at all. That’s why diagnostic data may have some garbage data because of reconnection.
Hope this would help, I’ll be waiting for a reply!

    Hello!
Here’s the requested diagnostic files in a split archive, as well as video of an issue on my side (different device, Android 6):
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RgLrcXp-SCqPjocHkkgY89D3RoyE9rb1/view?usp=sharing

A little hiccup happened while trying to reproduce this issue – the touchscreen did not work at all. Because of that I had to reconnect my viewer app and that might’ve created some additional garbage in diagnostic logs. Sorry if that’s true.
Hope this helps, will wait patiently for a reply!

    Hi @hilord,

Thank you very much for the feedback.

We tried with your suggested multi-touch testing site and it seems to work on our side.
No swiping of second touch to register it based on our observation.
We tried on Windows 11 and Windows 10 primary machine just to make sure.
Here’s a short video of our test, please check if we test it correctly using the suggested test tool: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f6bawedpwcdpv1v/spacedesk_multitouch_test.mp4?dl=0

To further analyze, can you please send us the diagnostic logs of the issue on your side.
    Just follow the steps below:
    – open spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics on your primary machine
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – try to connect your viewer app and reproduce the multi touch issue
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click Save All Information button (if message box appear just click No to proceed)
PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

    Hello!
No, that issue is present everywhere. You can try reproduce it on any multi-touch testing app or website (like this one: ” https://skill-test.net/multi-touch-test ” Even though it says that test won’t work, it will)
Also I want to make a little correction. Turns out, multi-touch works if at least one of the fingers is moving (for example if you swiping with one finger back and forth, the second touch would register). Also, if you hold one finger still and trigger the second touch by swiping with second finger and let go of the second one, it would still register until you lift the first finger. It’s as if touch updates are not called.
Hope this helps, will wait patiently for a reply!

    Hi @el_viejo,

Thank you very much for reporting this issue.

I assume your secondary machine is also Windows, then can you please tell us which Windows Viewer are you using?
Is it Windows 7 desktop version 0.9.41? Or Windows 10 Viewer version 0.0.26.0 from Microsoft Store?
In any case, did you also update to latest spacedesk Windows Viewer app?

If all sides are already updated and the disconnect still persist, could you please provide us the diagnostic logs of the disconnect issue?
    Just follow the steps below:
    – open spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – connect your viewer app and wait for the disconnect issue to happen
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click “Save All Information button” (in case it shows a message box, just click No to proceed).

    Hi @jimovo,

Without spacedesk connected, could you please open the Device Manager on your primary machine, just run devmgmt.msc then check underneath Human Interface Devices if you can find any touch screen device with error (usually it shows a yellow exclamation mark).

For further analysis, please also send us the diagnostic info of your primary machine.
Just run spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics, then click “Save All Information” button (in case it shows a message box, just click No to proceed).

If you are experiencing a black screen on your Android device when using spacedesk, there are several things you can try to resolve the issue:

Check your network connection: Ensure that both your Android device and Windows 10 computer are connected to the same network. A poor or unstable network connection may cause display issues.

Check the spacedesk server settings: On your Windows 10 computer, open the spacedesk server settings and ensure that the correct display settings are selected for your Android device. You may need to adjust the resolution or orientation settings to ensure compatibility with your device.

Restart the spacedesk app: Try restarting both the spacedesk app on your Android device and the spacedesk server on your Windows 10 computer. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

Disable any conflicting apps: If you have any other remote display or screen mirroring apps installed on your Android device, try disabling them as they may interfere with the spacedesk connection.

Try a different connection method: If you are using Wi-Fi to connect your Android device to your Windows 10 computer, try using a USB cable instead. This can sometimes provide a more stable connection.

If none of these solutions work, you may need to seek additional technical support from the spacedesk community or contact the spacedesk support team for further assistance.

    Hello!
I’ve been trying to play some touchscreen rhythm games using Spacedesk, but I noticed that the multi-touch have an issue, when if you hold one finger on screen, every next touch would require you to swipe in order to register. Because of this bug it’s not very pleasant experience to play through Spacedesk. It’s possible, but unnecessary hard.
Is there a workaround, some misconfiguration on my side, Windows 10’s own multi-touch support jank or just some bug?
    Please let me know!

    agreed, 100%
I just found the app, works perfectly except. Second screen controlling the PC is a deal breaker.

1st, in general, the added threat surface (potential for misuse) means there are far fewer places I would deploy spacedesk.

My particular use case: Screen mirroring.
Our computer operator is running an alpine ski race: that is, they are entering racers into the software connected to start and finish which provides us with results.
A live announcer views a mirrored screen so they can announce results over a public address system.

Currently we use full size second monitor.
Because we setup/teardown frequently, we are hoping to use a tablet as second display.
The tablet can go in the backpack with the laptop, saving us having to lug a desktop monitor around.

I can think of a dozen other use cases where it would be preferred to have view only.

    @jonathana
suggestion to be able to disable from either client or server is perfect. Hope this can be implemented. We don’t race again until 2024, so perhaps we can use SpaceDesk.

I don’t know what you mean by a “detached secondary display”. By that are you referring to when Spacedesk is running? My PC consists of 3 monitors at all times, and when I look in Display Settings, there is nothing detached. All 3 monitors have the desktop extended to them. They are working fine. Even when I run Spacedesk, nothing shows up as detached in Windows Display Settings.

Regarding Virtual Desktop, are you saying disabling it is not enough? I need it to run my VR apps and uninstalling it is not an option. If a complete uninstall is the only way Spacedesk will run, then I’ll have to find a solution other than Spacedesk.

    Hi @carsonolson99,

On which part of the setup did it get stuck? What was shown in the installer window?
FYI: If you already see the Repair or Remove option, it means spacedesk installation was able to finish.

For further analysis, could you please send us the following:
    – run dxdiag.exe on your primary machine, click “Save all information” and send us the output file
    – spacedeskSetup.log file located in C:\Users\Public
    – setupapi.dev.log file located in C:\Windows\INF

    Hi @cavogaro,

For clarification, so you want to mirror your main monitor screen to your other Android TV screen, right?

If this is the case, it is possible, just that Windows Display Control Panel/Settings user interface does not support it.
This applies to spacedesk and all other displays.

We suggest the workaround steps below to mirror your main monitor to all your Android TV screens.
    1. connect your 2 other Android TV, so the setup will be something like this:
    — Android TV #1 – main screen (1920×1080)
    — Android TV #2 – extension (1280×780)
    — Android TV #3 – extension (1280×780)

    2. Open spacedesk Driver Console and enable Videowall mode
    3. Assign all clients connected to Video Wall.
    — You will see on Connections -> Active (2 connected), 2 Android TV clients connected, click one of them, then click the Videowall tab in the right panel
    — In Wall Index box, enter any value e.g. “1”, then it will create a Video Wall1 underneath CONTROL
    — Change the dimension (Width:Height) of the client from 1280×780 to 1920×1080
    — Then right-click the other Android TV client below, then select “Assign to Wall1” and also change its dimension too
    4. Change dimension of Video Wall1, by clicking it underneath CONTROL, set the Size (Width:Height) to 1920 : 1080
    5. Open Windows Display Settings, and you will see an extended display (this is the videowall 1), switch it to Duplicate the main display.
You can do it via Display switch (Windows logo + P hotkey) then select Duplicate.

I have 3 identical AndroidTV two of then are extended desktop, wired with utp cable throught a switch, the main TV has a resolution of 1920×1080 at 60hz, the others one have a resolution of 1280×780 at 30Hz

What do I have to do to put all the extended screens equal to the main one?

I can connect using my PC’s hotspot however the connection is quite laggy compared to using a regular network. No third-party firewalls, VPNs, it’s set to a private network. The network is a hotel/apartment network where I have to login through a portal however both machines are logged into the 802.1x network.

When will we be allowed to buy a personal copy of this (hopefully permanent license)? I would’ve bought it already had there been an option to do so.

    Also, a question:
Would it be possible to integrate a function to enable a virtual desktop on the same computer without having to open two programs? I know this program is geared for remote virtual desktops, but it’s useful for me to just create a secondary virtual display on my computer without any external client. Why you may ask? Cause I use this with VR and virtual desktop application, so I don’t need to see the virtual desktop anywhere else except on my VR

In a case such as this, it would probably be more efficient to not have to route the virtual desktop through 127.0.0.1, since it’s all on the same computer anyways (also, no viewer is needed in such a case, so I can save computer resources)

    Hi @mr-robot,

Yes, indeed. This is an important feature that will only be available in Pro version.

In case you experience this scenario, you can still get back the control on your primary machine.
Just blindly press the Display Switch hotkey (Windows logo + P) on your primary machine’s keyboard until you re-attach your main monitor screen.
No need to forced reboot/shutdown your primary machine.

Thank you very much for sending the diagnostic logs.

    Based on the logs:

    1. You have a detached secondary display.
Have you tried attaching it via Windows Display Settings -> Multiple displays -> Extend/Duplicate display?

    2. As for disabling the Virtual Desktop & Virtual Desktop Streamer, please also try to uninstall it (then switch spacedesk Driver OFF-ON via spacedesk Driver Console) and check again with spacedesk.

    Hello,

Can someone please offer clarification about monitors over LAN and PC specs necessary for many simultaneous touchscreens?

I would like to have many independent touch screens monitors (between 6-10) controlling a single PC running audio software. What specs in a PC are required to make this work smoothly? Do monitors over LAN consume as much GPU as when directly plugged into a video output? Can I use an external GPU with SpaceDesk? Does this SpaceDesk consume much CPU?

I apologize for having so many questions and I appreciate any/all help!

    Thanks!

    Hi @rhoads,

We were able to somehow reproduce the same scenario you are experiencing with f.lux, it seems that f.lux is the one causing this issue. may we know if the issue is still happening on your side? If yes, can you please see if there’s a checked display in the disable menu of f.lux?

    Just follow the steps below:
    – connect your android phone and main monitor with spacedesk
    – open f.lux
    – go to f.lux menu which can be found in the upper left corner of f.lux window
    – check the ‘disable’ option for a checked display
    – If there’s a checked display, please uncheck all of it and then try to disconnect/connect your Android device again
    – your display settings should now stick with just one color with/without spacedesk.

I don’t, but I figured out what is going on. The issue is with f.lux, an app that automates a night-light like feature. They also had issues with other virtual/secondary display apps like displaylink. It looks like that in that case it is an issue with display link, check this example: https://www.displaylink.org/forum/showthread.php?t=68201

Do you think that is an issue with spacedesk or with f.lux? Can I help in any way?

Do you have USB debugging enabled on your android phone?
If yes, can you please try to disable it and try again with spacedesk Android USB cable connection.

If the suggestions above did not help, please send us the diagnostic logs, just follow the steps below:
    – open spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics page
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)

    Hi @rexmauris,

Routers can cause lags and latency. Bypassing them always improves performance.
This does not only apply to USB Tethering, but also to direct ethernet cable connection and WiFi Direct connection.

If your secondary device is Android, you can try connecting via direct Android USB cable.
Please refer to the chapter Direct USB Cable Connection (Android only) in the user manual https://forum.spacedesk.netuser-manual/#item_11689.

Otherwise, please check the chapter Performance tuning in the user manual.
It provides several ways to improve performance. https://forum.spacedesk.netuser-manual/#item_505.

The primary machine has ethernet connection, while the second one has WiFi connection, I tried switching it and doesnt work. Any solution? thanks

    Hi @david-p,

Yes you can simulate an 8k virtual monitor with spacedesk.
Just enable the videowall mode, then create a video wall by assigning a client to a wall.
The default dimension of a spacedesk video wall is 4K (3840×2160) but you can modify it and set an 8K resolution.

For further assistance, please refer to the chapter Videowall Configuration in the user manual https://forum.spacedesk.netuser-manual/#item_619.

This software is amazing, and I think it will bring an old tablet back to life.
However, I am encountering a strange error. Whenever I connect my secondary monitor (running Windows on host and Android on the secondary monitor), my main monitor’s color profile changes, turning all whites a little grey except for the mouse pointer.
When I turn off the secondary monitor, the main monitor goes back to normal whites. I have checked the Windows color profiles, but I can’t see any changes to the profile settings when I turn the secondary monitor on or off.
This issue does not occur when I use another regular secondary physical monitor plugged directly into my video card.
Do you have any ideas on how to debug or fix this?

hello, the problem is this: I want to connect a laptop on windows 10 x32 to a pc on windows 11 x64. everything connects, does not crash, but at the same time, on the laptop there is just a black screen in the program window. Both PCs have the latest software and drivers installed.

Yes, it is possible to stream 4 or more Android screens to one laptop. One way to achieve this is by using screen mirroring software that allows multiple devices to connect and stream their screens to the laptop. Some examples of such software include Reflector, AirServer, and Mirroring360. Another option is to use a hardware solution such as a video capture card that can capture the screens of multiple Android devices and display them on the laptop. However, the hardware solution can be more expensive and may require additional setup and configuration.

    Hi @zeromonarc,
spacedesk viewer app is published in the Microsoft store for both Windows 10 and 11 machines only. Xbox might have a shared store with Microsoft which made spacedesk also available for download inside Xbox.

Hi guys! I also am having the same error and issues as OP, might there been any more info on what’s happening here? I get that spacedesk may not be designed to work with the Xbox but if that’s the case who greenlit it to be available for download on said Xbox then? I mean something smells fishy here, and it ain’t from those of us trying to increase our overall pixel density XD

    Hi @dtboyle,

Is this the first time you try out spacedesk on an Xbox console? or have you used it before?
spacedesk app does not officially support Xbox platforms, so its compatibility with the said console cannot be guaranteed.

Hi Guys. Has anyone had their Xbox One s/x streaming through Spacedesk. I use it a lot with barely any lag for work casting etc & was excited to see it available on Xbox store…….Short lived….. After installation it just error messages all the time & wont connect to my projector/ google home the same as any other device.. Any experience or advice would be appreciated. Ta!
