Hi, I’m trying to run the spacedesk driver console on a Hyper-V virtual machine with GPU-Partitioning enabled.

It works fine when connecting extra displays to the VM machine using the Spacedesk Viewer app and them working as extended displays.
As soon as i create a videowall and attach 2 displays to the videowall, 1 of them freezes up and wont respond.
If i un-assign the display from the videowall profile it will start working again. just won’t work in the videowall profile combining displays together.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @astro204,
Can you further describe the issue?
Does the viewer cannot discover the primary machine anymore?
Or it can discover but unable to connect (with error info or display off)?

Please run the spacedesk Driver Console app in the primary machine, then click Diagnostics -> Save All Information button, then send us the diagnostic folder for further analysis.
PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

Yes, I have run the app for several hours while the PC was just idle or I was doing other tasks and never experienced the loss of connection. It doesn’t always happen even with MSFS and Air Manager running as today I did two separate flight sessions of 2-3 hours and did not lose connection. But when it does happen, it is always while running MSFS and Air Manager.

    Hi Nicole,

Right now i have 2 more monitors connected to the VM machine. As separate displays it works fine, so any update i send to the displays like browsers, images etc they process and work. Just as soon as i assign more then 1 display to a videowall profile, one of them that is assigned to the videowall profile freezes. If i make 2 videowall profiles and assign 1 display to each, with the same resolution 1920×1080, they work fine. Its only a problem when i assign more then 1 display to the same videowall profile.

Hi Lea, thank you for your reply.

Yes, the PC lockup only happens right after the uninitiated disconnect from the Primary Server and it always happens when I’m using it with MSFS 2020 Flight Simulator. I’m using it with another program called Air Manager which allows me to emulate a radio panel from the aircraft I’m flying.

Screen Resolution is set to: Use native android device resolution (which is 1920×1200)
    Network connection is Wifi.

Diagnostics file as captured after re-boot from yesterday’s crash is attached.

I look forward to your reply.

    Hi @thegeorge289,

Which driver did you delete? Is it spacedesk?
    How did you delete it?
Did you uninstall the whole spacedesk server/driver software properly via Windows Control Panel or via spacedesk MSI installer?
Or did you just remove/uninstall the spacedesk driver in the Device Manager?

Have tried forced rebooting your primary machine?
Is your primary monitor still not working after PC reboot?

I downloaded spacedesk literally today I used it for a bit then went to eat lunch and when I returned my pc was in sleep mode bc I watched a TV show while eating so about 50 minutes. When I turned the PC on the primary screen (TV monitor TUBOX) wasn’t showing anything and I was like God damn it not again. But my phone connected… I thought the driver was the problem and the stupid person I am I decided to delete the drviver from my PC using my phone. The delete process began, the screen froze and then said that there is no connection with the PC. Now I have no screen and PC turns on but no beeps that need to tell if something is off. Help me pls
Note: PC’s integrated video card on the motherboard even doesn’t work for some reason and it all happened for like 1 hour and 20 minutes…

I use Spacedesk with an iPad 2nd Generation with a Windows 11 PC. All of a sudden, my app stopped working properly today. I deleted the app to reinstall it. However, when I went to reinstall the app, the App Store said that Spacedesk isn’t compatible with my iPad. How can I fix this problem?

    #10800

    Hi @nicholaushuttongmail-com,

We understand that you are having trouble connecting spacedesk to your laptop, please try to follow this workaround…

    – You can double check if both of your primary and secondary machine are connected within the same local area network
    – Try to see if spacedesk or C:\Windows\system32\spacedeskService.exe is included in antivirus or firewall’s exception list. this is to
allow spacedesk service to establish incoming and outgoing connections
    – If you have VPN (Virtual Private Network) active in your machine, please disable it
    – If you are connecting over wireless network, please make sure your wifi router has client isolation disabled
    – Try to check if your current Network profile in your primary machine is Public, if so, switch it to Private. you can navigate this
options by going to Windows Settings -> Internet & Network

You can also check Troubleshooting -> Network Connection chapter in the user manual https://forum.spacedesk.netuser-manual/

on the other hand, have you tried switching On/Off your spacedesk Driver Console whenever the issue occurs? and also, can you tell us what machine are you using for spacedesk viewer. Android/iOS/Windows?

I installed spacedesk a year ago and it wasn’t performing well so I uninstalled through uninstall app or program and it keeps installing itself back onto my system (and my laptop)

I have tried several times and even deleted installers etc across the system AND reset my PC back to factory yet there are still files in my system32 folder and its sitting there in my disk tray

Can someone please explain why this software will not go away?

    Hi @ml6,

    You can try 2 things:

    1. You can try to connect a virtual display without secondary machine connected using local host connection via HTML5 Viewer
Just open a web browser on your primary machine (e.g. Google Chrome, MS Edge), then go to http://viewer.spacedesk.net/ and connect to your local machine’s IP address.
Please take note that only 1 connection is allowed when using spacedesk HTML5 Viewer.

    2. Enable Videowall and set the Videowall Disconnect Delay to -1 (equivalent to infinite) in spacedesk Driver Console Window.
With disconnect delay set to infinite, it will not unplug the virtual display in your primary machine even after disconnecting the viewer app in your secondary machine. It will only unplug upon spacedesk server switch (OFF-ON) or machine reboot.

Then after setting up a fixed virtual display, you can manually move or put a specific software in the display, then it will stay there until the display unplugs.

Nothing is final yet. Current plans are: Probably only one free spacedesk Viewer can be connected to spacedesk Server. Additional simultaneously connected viewers need to be paid by in-app-purchases. Prices could probably range between €10 and €20 per viewer but we cannot confirm anything yet.

    Hi @qzz,

    Please check the following:
    – check your iPad Settings -> Privacy -> Local Network, if spacedesk is on the list and enabled
    – if you have third party antivirus or firewall, please make sure that you have spacedesk or C:\Windows\system32\spacedeskService.exe added in the exception list to allow incoming and outgoing connection
    – if you have VPN (Virtual Private Network) active, try to disable it
    – if your connecting over wireless network, please make sure your wifi router has client isolation disabled
    – if your current Network profile in your primary machine is Public, please try to switch it to Private in Windows Settings -> Internet & Network

    Hi @willien,

Unfortunately, we cannot download the .7z file you attached.
Please change it to .zip file and reattach again.

You might also want to check the following if viewer app is unable to discover any primary machine:
    – make sure that both primary and secondary machine are connected on the same local area network
    – if you have third party antivirus or firewall, please make sure that you have spacedesk or C:\Windows\system32\spacedeskService.exe added in the exception list to allow incoming and outgoing connection
    – if you have VPN (Virtual Private Network) active, try to disable it

    Hi @rageven,

So far we still cannot reproduce the same issue on our side.
For clarification, with spacedesk Windows 7 Viewer app (v0.9.39), your laptop did not shutdown, but instead it disconnected, right?
Is it a disconnection from your network? What kind of disconnection is it? Can you please further describe?
Or if it’s possible, can you send us a short video of this issue?

Could you also please send us a DebugView logs of your secondary machine/laptop?
    Just follow the steps below:
    – download DebugView app here: https://download.sysinternals.com/files/DebugView.zip
    – extract the files from the zipped folder
    – run the Dbgview.exe as Administrator
    – make sure to only check the Capture -> Capture Win32 and Capture Events
    – while DebugView is open, please run the spacedesk Windows 7 Viewer app and try to recreate the disconnection issue in the laptop
    – you should find some “SA [xxxx:xxxx] …” traces in the DebugView, please save the logs (as .txt file) and send it to us.

Could you please try the following steps on your primary machine.
    – right-click C:\Windows\Temp folder -> Properties -> Security tab -> Advanced -> Permission tab -> Continue
    – check if you find the Users or Authenticated Users and make sure it has Full Control access
If none, just Add -> Select a principal, then type “Users” and click Check Names and click OK
    – Then make sure to check the Full Control access for the Users then click Apply -> OK.
After following the steps above try to run-install again the spacedesk MSI installer.

By the way, instead of spacedesk version 1049, please try the latest version 1050 which is now available on our website https://forum.spacedesk.net.

After further analyzing your setup, please try the following:

    2. Peter: As mentioned I can manually switch upside down. But that will not work for me, since ipad is in reading stand with power cable connected

spacedesk Lea: Based on the log, the display is currently in Landscape mode and it shows an upside down screen in the ipad, right?
What if you try to manually switch to Landscape (flipped) in the Windows display settings -> Orientation ?

    3. Peter: Apps on process line are responding fine on PC monitor no matter if spacedesk is connected or not.
Issue only comes on spacedesk app in ipad, meaning that you can’t use some important process line apps from ipad.
Also note that when you press the press the icon process line on ipad, app comes up fine on PC, but on ipad I only see the blue screen (see attached)

spacedesk Lea: If you were able to open the app (e.g. Teamviewer) on your main monitor, can you just manually drag the Teamviewer app window from main monitor to the extension display (viewer screen on your iPad)?

    Hi @tarbear123,

Native USB cable connection is not yet supported.
But we will soon support it in Android (no specific date of availability yet).

For now you can try these alternatives:
    1. USB tethering connection (if your tablet supports it)
    2. Android Debug Bridge cable connection, which requires Android SDK.
Detailed instruction for USB tethering and Android Debug Bridge cable connection is available in the user manual.

    Hi @kemikalelite,

Thank you very much for these logs.
    We are currently analyzing it.

Other things to try and check if spacedeskService still hangs:
    1. Please try USB tethering connection between your phone and primary machine, instruction on how to connect via USB tethering is available in spacedesk user manual (Performance Tuning -> Network Bandwidth -> USB Tethering chapter)
    https://forum.spacedesk.netuser-manual/

    2. Is your primary machine currently connected to an Access Point?
if it’s easily doable, try to connect your primary machine directly to your network router

For now, instead of reboot just try to “End task” the spacedeskService.exe in task manager when it hangs then just manually start it in services.msc.

We will get back to as soon as we have news regarding this issue.

After restarting the computer I was able to connect from my phone running Android 12 but not my tablet running Android 4.4.

Even on the phone I’m not able to connect again successfully again without rebooting.

While I try to restart the spacedesk service either through the GUI console or services.msc the service hangs when stopping after which the start/stop/restart options become grayed out.

services.msc shows Error 1053 The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

I’ll try connecting with a clean boot state next. As a last resort I might reinstall Windows if I have to.

Latest log with the one successful connection and the service hanging attached.

    Hi @kemikalelite,

    Thanks for the feedback.

    1. Can you easily stop-start the SpacedeskService in services.msc? just to check that it’s not hanging..

    2. I’m not sure if this will help, but maybe you can try this anyway.. just switch your current network profile to Private via Windows Settings -> Network & Internet -> Properties (of current network connected), then select “Private” as Network profile.

    3. Maybe also try to update the most recent Nvidia Graphics Adapter, they just released a new driver yesterday.
    https://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx

    4. If by any chance, do have any frame rendering related app currently active while trying to connect the spacedesk?

    Hi All/Support,

Thanks for the reply…… I had tried all things and in the end I first did a reset of data (which does all programs but not accounts/programs) That did not fix. As it was a new/used tablet and I had chosen to install the tablet from a saved Google same tablet….. I then did a full factory default to start again. (Hence I have lost the ability to now send you the logs) I have now only installed SpaceDesk and it works fine. Thank you for your support….hopefully this info will be of use to someone later.
I now have my 2 Samsung Tab S2 tablets showing the G1000 flight system on my Xplane 12 system working fine and I don’t notice any frame rate drop……

    I reinstalled spacedesk.
This time the service is present and running even after reboot.
The console shows server ON (idle).
However, when I attempt to connect from my tablet or phone the mobile screen shows “Connected – Display OFF”.
When attempting to reconnect the app gets stuck at “Disconnecting from 192.168.1.100”
The console doesn’t show any devices connected.
There aren’t any monitors from spacedesk in Windows Settings or Device Manager.
spacedeskservice.exe and other related files are present in System32.

I have attached the latest log from this attempt.

    Hi @kemikalelite,
Can you try to reinstall the spacedesk v1049 then check if spacedeskService.exe is present in C:\Windows\System32 folder.
Then, if spacdesk Driver Console is present, please send us again the updated diagnostic logs.
