    I was having the same issue with my tablet. I have updated the driver for my PC, I have uninstalled and reinstalled MULTIPLE times on the tablet to no avail. I tested after one uninstall and reinstall on my phone and everything is fine, color is bright, but the tablet remained greyscale after following the same exact steps. I finally went into clear the cache on the app for the tablet, and now everything works fine.

    I fixed my Black and White issue on the Console by Clearing the Spacedesk Setting on the lower right Settings section. Worked instantly.

    Hi @insomniafreak,

    Thanks for sending the diagnostic logs.

    Based on the setup logs, the uninstallation for spacedesk virtual HID device is hanging.
    This is a known issue in our old installer version which we already fixed in the most recent version.
    To solve this on your machine, please manually uninstall the spacedesk virtual HID device in Device Manager.

    – open Device Manager by running “devmgmt.msc”
    – click View tab -> Devices by connection
    – scroll down and find spacedesk virtual HID Device
    – expand first the spacedesk virtual HID Device and right-click “Uninstall device” each devices underneath it
    – then right-click “Uninstall device” the spacedesk virtual HID Device
    Then try again to update with the latest spacedesk installer.

    As for the Display Off issue, this is caused by splashtop installed on your primary machine.
    This is one of the incompatible software products listed in spacedesk.
    If you want to use spacedesk, please try to to uninstall the splashtop Virtual display driver first, then check if spacedesk will work.
    Just open the splashtop Wired XDisplay Agent -> Advanced, then uninstall the Virtual Display driver then reboot.

    Hi @johnny-fang,
    Yes in some cases, if both primary and secondary machine are connected on different Network band/frequency, it will also cause a network discovery issue. Some spacedesk users experienced that.

    Hi @hucbr600, could you please check this on your side if both are connected on the same network band/frequency?
    Thanks for verifying that it can connect via local host connection. This confirmed that there’s no issue in the server functionality. And the issue is most likely in the local area network settings.

    Hi @hichemdax,

    Ahh the BSOD (blue screen of death) during USB tethering connection…this is a known issue which we don’t have a fix in the spacedesk side.
    The problem seems to be the USB driver used by the mobile phone for USB Tethering.

    FYI: Support for native Android USB cable connection will be available very soon.

    Hi GB18.
    I don’t know for sure, but I would expect your setup to work OK.

    I have a desktop with 2 monitors using the HDMI and VGA ports, and have successfully had my chromebook work as a 3rd monitor through wifi. The chromebook appears on the Windows > System > Display as monitor 3, and extends the display.

    I even had a tablet working as a 4th display at the same time!

    My only issue was that I found that the chromebook and tablet were a bit laggy.

    Attached is a screenshot showing (left to right) monitors 2 and 1 followed by the chromebook as monitor 3.

    You can send it to AndroidApp@spacedesk.ph.
    Please take note that by following the steps above, spacedesk Driver Console app should generate a diagnostic folder name like „2023-01-04-XXXXX-spacedeskRuntimeDiagnostics“ (which contains all necessary diagnostic log files), then this is the folder that you should compress (zipped).

    Really bad to see, Linux as a Plattform is still being ignored! Atleast Spacedesk Client should exist for Linux, either as a Wine-port or using the HTML5 Viewer, however the HTML5 Viewer lacks Remote Control support.

    What about if the Linux-Users would lets say start a finance crowd-funding to get a Linux-Client supported?

    If the black and white screen is happening with your Windows 10/11 primary machine, could you please send us the diagnostic logs for further analysis. Just follow the steps below:
    – Open spacedesk Driver Console in your Windows primary machine
    – click the Diagnostics on the left side panel
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – try to connect your viewer app and reproduce the black and white issue
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click Save All Information button
    PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
    Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

    Hi @User72618,
    Thank you very much for sending the diagnostic logs.
    Based on the logs, the spacedesk display is detached.
    You can easily attach it via Windows Display Settings, just click the detached then select „Extend/Duplicate“ underneath „Multiple displays“ drop down menu.

    I just updated everything again as you indicated and it’s still in black and white
    I tried the html but there is a lot of lag so I will abandon the best program in the world „spacedesk“ until they release a new update, it is a pity because I used it exclusively for work. but thank you for your time and help

    The spacedesk Driver/Server is the one that expires.
    Update needed for your spacedesk Driver/Server on Windows 10:
    Install spacedesk Driver/Server version: Beta RC v1.0.50 (from spacedesk website)

    Please also make sure that the Viewer/Client is up to date as well.
    For your spacedesk Viewer on Windows 7 you have two alternative options:
    – Install spacedesk Viewer for Windows 7 Beta III v0.9.39 (from spacedesk website)
    – Use spacedesk HTML Viewer v0.9.10(follow link on spacedesk website)

    You can open try Settings>Quality/Performance>Custom FPS Rate>60 FPS

    And you can try low resolution Settings>Resolution>Choose Custom Resolution>Resolution you want

    Or you can try setting everything for your connection (low connection problems) from Quality/Performance

    You can set a static IP for your android phone/tablet but your spacedesk drivercan not shown on android device spacedesk viewer. And the phone Ip will be 192.168.42.x for phone/tablet but it will not be a problem to connect to pc spacedesk driver.

    I think you must download qWAVE driver for windows 7. My problem is same. But I barely use windows7
    Please download KB3063858 update for windows 7.

    Hi @thyagueau,

    Could you please try to uninstall the spacedesk in your primary machine using the „msi installer -> Remove“ or using the Windows Control Panel, then reboot your primary machine, and reinstall it.

    If the above suggestion did not help, and you still have the failed installation error, please send us the following:
    – run dxdiag.exe on your primary machine, click „Save all information“ and send us the output file
    – spacedeskSetup.log file located in C:\Users\Public
    – setupapi.dev.log file located in C:\Windows\INF

    Please save all requested files in one folder, then right-click -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

    Hi!
    I want to connect a Windows laptop to a chromebook with the chromebook as the secondary machine. I plan to make a USB A male to USB A male cable using the A ends of 2 A-B cables. I’ve successfully used wifi to connect, and it works, but is a bit laggy.

    Am I right in thinking that I should NOT connect the red wire, otherwise the two machines will each be trying to power the connection, and one may damage the other? Or do I connect all 4 of the wires?

    FIRST: This is the nature of BETA versions (in modern era and in old eras).
    SECOND: We did not break anything. We are smoothly phasing it out by showing black and white screen. It remains fully usable.
    THIRD: As usual and common for BETA versions – a newer better version is available immediately when a BETA expires.

    Client for Windows 7 is not maintained very much any more.
    But still it should not expire (I just double checked).
    Are you really sure?

    I updated my windows on my secondary pc to make it work, in windows 10 it won’t let me set the resolution of my screen which is 900×1600 and I also have windows 7 installed that stays in black and white. I need help

    Hi @lea,

    Thanks for the link. I have my laptop HP ZBook Workstation G3 connected on Lan, I have tried the USB tethering but had bad experience with blue death screen in mid meetings. I could not find what to update as stated USB Driver as everything is up to date as per windows response when I hit update driver.

    What’s interesting is that when I disable mirroring the cursor is shown and the refresh rate is acceptable.

    Do you need any further troubleshooting?

    Am using an Android tablet as a teleprompter screen and enabled flip. Everything works fine except refresh rate being very low and so my cursor lags a lot, i get really stuck if i move teams calls to that screen as I cannot manipulate mouse anymore there.

    Any suggestions how to enhance this lagging experience?

    Hi @mshopper2,

    These black borders appears when the current resolution in the viewer app does not match the aspect ratio of the device’s native screen resolution.
    In the Android Viewer settings -> Resolution, uncheck the „Use custom resolution“ box, so that the viewer will only use the native android device resolution.

    Hi @maciek,

    1. Yes. By default, spacedesk Server starts automatically upon Windows start up. You can check this via spacedesk Driver Console -> Control, on Configuration box where you can find the „Automatic Start at System Boot Time“ check box.

    2. Yes, just download the spacedesk Windows 7 Viewer (version 0.9.39) on your laptop.
    Just make sure to check the Keyboard and Audio Speaker on Functionality settings before connecting it to your Primary PC.

    I encountered the same situation like yours, trying all the methods and failed.
    However, while testing with different wifi, it worked.
    I tried with my iPhone hotspot, it worked.
    Then I tried the other type of wifi (2.4G) from the same wifi in my house, it worked as well.

    The other type I mentioned above is that, there are two types of wifi from my home wifi, which are 5G and 2.4G respectively. I am not an network expert, there are two wifi connection I can use from the same wifi machine anyway.

    The point here for @lea is, my 5G wifi worked fine originally, but the problem occurred in early or mid-December.
    Now, whenever I want to use Spacedesk, I cannot use 5G wifi.
    Maybe you can inform your team about this?

    We changed priority to favor „Android USB cable support“ over „h264 encoding“.
    Android USB cable support is already working.
    Android USB cable support will become available publicly within the next few weeks.
    h264 encoding might not even be continued after this (too many quirks, performance gain too small for regular users).
    Instead we are currently evaluating WebRTC network communication protocol for larger performance gain.
    WebRTC software can implicitly use h264 encoding anyway (by software as well as hardware-accelerated).

    Heyo!

    Somehow, the issue miraculously fixed itself, and my converted IPv4 address was accepted. Yay!

    I’m not sure what happened the first time I tried it, but it works now! Thank you for your suggestion; I’ll keep that in mind if I happen to have any further issues with my IP address. 🙂

    Ok, thanks for the feedback.
    I really think it has something to do with your current network. Since pinging the IP address of the client results to time out and that indicates that it cannot reach the client devices in the same network.

    Anyway, next thing to try – local host connection via HTML5 Viewer.
    Just open a web browser on your primary machine then go to http://viewer.spacedesk.net/ and connect to its own IP address OR to 127.0.0.1 and check if spacedesk can connect locally.

    Hey

    This is a fantastic piece of software. I really need the viewer and driver to run on the same computer, as in connect to itself. Is there a way to tweak it to allow me to connect to 127.0.0.1/localhost? Thanks!!!

    Why you ask?

    I’ve got a BIG monitor occupying a ton of space. For live streaming I need to share a FULL SCREEN to enable certain features. I can’t share my whole screen because that would be too much. I can’t share a portion because that doesn’t enable those features. I’d love to share a Spacedesk display that doesn’t exist, and choose resolution. I do however want to be able to see the content that is being shown on it and that’s where the Viewer comes in. I can open it when I need it. When I don’t I can minimize it without disturbing the feed. All with one big display.

    Answers below – and still no luck getting Spacedesk to Connect – all other prgrammes that need to connect do connect, so I’m guessing there needs to be something wrong with SpaceDesk.

    Please check in Control Panel -> Network & Internet -> Network and Sharing center -> Change advanced sharing settings,
    then check if Network discovery and File and printer sharing are ON. CHECKED EVERYTHING AND ALL ON – NOTHING CHANGED

    Are you sure that your wifi router don’t have any WiFi/AP/Client Isolation enabled? CHECKED AGAIN – NOTHING ISOLATED

    Is your primary machine (Surface) personal? Or is it company issued machine? – PERSONAL

    Is your Wifi network not a public network (e.g. University, Hotel, Restaurant)? PRIVATE HOME NETWORK

    Are your iPads from Mainland China? Are they WiFi only? Or with cellular? NOT FROM CHINA – a mix of WiFi ONLY and WIFi and CELLULAR – NOT WORKING ON ANY iPAD DEVICE REGARDLESS OF CELLULAR/WiFI ETC>

    Please check on your iPad Settings -> Privacy -> Local Network, if spacedesk is on the list and enabled? SPACEDESK VISIBLE AND ENABLED.
