    Still no difference, made a folder “spacedesk” directly in C: but still got the same issue.

    I had a look at the properties of the installer, can’t get the option to run as administrator as its greyed out along with compatability mode.

    Is there an exe file rather than an msi available?

    based on your logs, it cannot move the spacedeskService binary from your programfiles to System32 folder.
    also, did you reboot your machine after you uninstall spacedesk?

    You might want to try the following:
    1. reboot your machine after you uninstall
    2. run the spacedesk installer and change the destination folder

    see the spacedesk log file and api log attached.

    I know W7 is a bit old now but this laptop still runs like a train but isn’t able to be updated to W10 unfortunately.
    Only other option is to move it over to Linux i suppose…

    Microsoft does not support Windows 7 any more.
    We cannot support Windows 7 any more either.
    Still spacedesk works in many Windows 7 environments.
    However, you can still send us the files below:
    – run dxdiag.exe on your primary machine, click “Save all information” and send us the output file
    – spacedeskSetup.log file located in C:\Users\Public
    – setupapi.dev.log file located in C:\Windows\INF

    Then we will have a short look and see if we can find any obvious problem which can easily be solved
    (despite the fact that we actually can not support Windows 7 any more).

    I’m reviving an older Toshiba Satellite laptop running W7 for use again. I have Spacedesk running on other current W11 laptops and it runs perfectly however with this install under W7 it fails at the same point constantly.

    I mirror to Sony Android TV’s and all the other work fine with no issues. I ran the install with the TV app running and it does show up the name of the laptop and the correct IP address on my network however when it’s selected on the TV it displays as “screen is off” and disconnects so something is getting through but its failing at the install point on the laptop.

    Ive included a compiled screenshot of the popups that come up plus system info however one warning does state a software failure and the .msi is listed as a beta version.

    spacedesk Android Native USB connection should work even without enabling the USB debugging option.
    Could you try gathering some diagnostic traces with USB debugging disabled?
    just follow the steps below:

    – open spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – reproduce the issue. do not enable the USB Debugging option.
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click Save All Information button (if a message box appears, just click No to proceed)
    PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
    Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

    Inside the spacedesk menu button, there is an option to minimize the menu so that it won’t take so much space in the screen. just click the button and scroll down to find “minimize” option.

    Could you please check if there are pending Windows updates in your system settings (or your current update may be lacking some important packages.) If there is, please try to update them and try again with spacedesk.

    Seems to have worked. I was able to install version 2.1.0.1 using winget install Datronicsoft.SpacedeskDriver.Server.

    Still thinking this would have been easier if I would just have copied spacedesk_driver_Win_10_64_v1067_BETA.msi into C:\Users\Alter\AppData\Local\Temp\WinGet\.

    Hey, I am getting this error every time I am trying to install spacedesk. The error shown is “An error has been encountered while installing spacedesk driver. Installation will be stopped. Please reboot the machine and run this setup again.” I have rebooted my machine multiple times and still has not worked. This worked before on Windows 10, but as I switched over to Windows 11 it just wouldn’t let me install spacedesk. Is there any solution?

    I could not possibly agree more. I’ve created this account just to second this, It’s something I’ve searched hours for, I’ve looked into forums, drivers, settings and hardware.
    Touchpad support for gestures such as pinch to zoom would make the Spacedesk experience so much more seamless for so many users.

    I understand the priorities Spacedesk must address, but I implore you guys to please keep this feature in mind for the future. In the meantime, I’ll be following this awesome app closely.

    Spacedesk support folks, I am curious to know if there are any USB performance tweak settings available, because the USB connection is only slightly more responsive than WiFi, which surprised me, but it could just be because I have an underpowered tablet (Leia Lume Pad with a 3D screen and stereo cameras).

    Does ″free″ here mean something different from the BETA version(spacedesk_driver_Win_10_64_v2101 and spacedeskWindowsVIEWER_v0943_BETA)?

    Yes, this configuration (spacedesk_driver_Win_10_64_v2101 and spacedeskWindowsVIEWER_v0943_BETA) can be used for free until it will expire. No matter if business or private use. Expiry date of free spacedesk versions is always shown in spacedesk Driver Console (December 2024 for this configuration).

    In General:
    Free spacedesk versions always have an expiry date. Paid business versions do not expire.
    After the expiry date, spacedesk free versions will still work. However they will not show any colors on the screen any more. They will look like an ancient Black and White Television.

    When I initially tried to get the Windows Spacedesk application/driver to connect to the Spacedesk app on my Android tablet over USB, it simply did not work. I got the popup on my tablet asking if I wanted to transfer files, photos, or just charge, and no matter what I picked or if I just hit the Cancel button, the connection never started. The System Information section on the Spacedesk Windows application showed an error with code 10. I found nothing useful in all the other diagnostic logs.

    In order to make it work properly, I had to turn on Developer Options on the Android tablet and then I needed to enable USB debugging. Once I did that, it worked like a champ, but clearly a user should not have to jump through such hoops. The tablet is running Android 10.

    I see. just to be clear, were you able to reconnect after you rebooted your client machine?

    Please send us the files below:
    for Primary machine (you do not need an admin privilege for this) go to spacedesk Console > Diagnostics > click “Save all information” (you do not have to enable the ‘diagnostic collection’ option) > click NO on the pop-up admin privileges permission then save the output

    and for your client machine, please run dxdiag.exe on your primary machine, and click “Save all information”.

    You may send all output files inside a zipped folder by sending it here or by uploading the zip files in Dropbox or other file hosting services and just send us the download link.

    Based on the attached screenshot, you have Nvidia Shadowplay installed. Could you maybe try to disable it on Nvidia GeForce Experience app? then maybe reboot your primary machine and try again with spacedesk.

    also, if you want to use a wired connection with your Ipad, please update your spacedesk Windows Driver to version 2.1.0.0, this update already has the native iOS USB support. you don’t have to use USB tethering to connect your iOS anymore.

    To make it clear, there was no problem with uninstall. The error occurs during the installation stage, and it fails because it cannot find the files generated in the destination folder.

    In this case, please try the following:
    1. Do not upgrade from old version to another. instead, completely uninstall spacedesk first via previous msi or Programs & Features
    2. Generate msi trace (msiexec.exe) of the spacedesk MSI installer while spacedesk is installing.
    to do this, please download the spacedeskMsiTraceGenerate.zip here:

    – extract the zip file
    – copy the spacedesk MSI installer you will use to install inside the folder then click the get_trace.bat

    – if you encounter the error again, please send the spacedeskmsi_trace.txt generated inside the folder together with the dxdiag file and setupapi.dev.log file located in C:\Windows\INF

    Hi, Im trying to use this app to connect my tablet to laptop via USB, but I have issues with enabling USB connection
    When I click on the “USB Cable Android” it doesnt responding or changing state, so plugging tablet doesnt lead to anything
    I found file list of driver and found out that Im missing some of the files, one of them is spacedeskDriverAndroidUsb.sys , so maybe thats the reason of my problem, but I dont know how to solve it since I’ve already reinstalled driver couple of times and it doesnt helped

    for A. This is not possible for spacedesk since we only support USB cable connections for Android and iOS.
    for B and C. we are not sure if this setup will work and give you your desired result, this set-up is yet to be tested. however, you can still try it at your own risk and see which will work.

    We can only suggest establishing a Wi-Fi Direct connection to create a network between your laptops.
    this can also achieve similar performance as USB. Configure Windows PC or Android device as WiFi Direct (Hotspot) and connect to it before connecting spacedesk. Please check chapter PERFORMANCE TUNING -> Use Wifi Direct / Wifi Hotspot / Wifi Access Point in the instruction manual.

    Upon checking your logs, we found no traces of attempts made to connect to the server.
    Could you maybe provide us further information about this issue?
    -on your iPad, do you see your server name on connection page?
    -is your iOS viewer freshly installed? have you clicked “Allow” on the prompt saying “spacedesk would like to find and connect devices..” –
    -could you also check if client isolation is enabled in Wi-Fi router settings. If this setting is enabled, it will prevent direct communication between connected PCs/devices.
    -if your server is discoverable by your client, do you maybe have Nvidia ShadowPlay installed on your machine?
    Could you please check for any incompatible software, just run the spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics -> Incompatible Software Products. if there is, please uninstall or disable it and try again with spacedesk

    You can also try to connect using our iOS USB connection. to try this, please refer to CONNECTING A NEW DISPLAY MONITOR OVER THE USB CABLE -> Direct USB Cable Connection -> iOS USB Cable Connection chapter on our user manual.

    Trying to connect my iPad to my pc via spacedesk on windows 10. Have manually allowed ports through both my firewall and through my router and disabled kaspersky. My diagnostic logs are attached. I’ve been browsing solutions both on these forums and other parts of the internet, and I’m tired. My pc has a history of resisting connections over wifi, Wallpaper Engine for mobile uses a similar system and also fails connections. Not looking for a solution for that, obviously, but I feel like the two may be related.

    Hello,

    While on the road, Wi-Fi reliability can be unpredictable. Is there a way to utilize spacedesk between two or three laptops running Windows 10?

    These laptops only have USB ports available.

    I’m contemplating the following options:
    A. Use two USB cables to directly connect three laptops.
    B. Utilize three USB to RJ45 adapters and establish a network connection solely for spacedesk (3 RJ45 + 3 cables + hub).
    C. Incorporate three additional Wi-Fi USB adapters via USB (though stability might not match options A and B).

    Any advice?

    I Think my tablet had adware because I only used it for SpaceDesk, the malware seemed to only trigger while I was in an app and not trigger otherwise, I have flushed it out and restarted my device and so far so good! Sorry for complaining I never expected to get malware on this device cause I dont use it for anything else so it`s wired. I have also removed my 1 star complain on google store I hate to complain but your app is so damn good that I was upset when I had the issue. If anyone else expects the same issue just tell them to flush their device cause they have viruses.

    Hi @vivid,

    spacedesk Android USB should work with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports and cables.
    Have you tried troubleshooting your USB 3.1 port? does it work with file transfer?
    Could you also try plugging it on your USB 3.1 port and check spacedesk Android Control in device manager if there are any errors (indicated by an exclamation mark).

    Hi,

    I tried the new USB Cable driver for iOS w/ ver 1.0.78. Great work on the progress!

    However, I lost iPad pen support. The error message is “unsupported feature on server-side. You can not use the stylus feature with your current windows-PC spacedesk drive. Please install the latest spacedesk driver from http://www.spacedesk.net.”

    iPad pen support does work wirelessly but not wired. I still have touch support in both cases.

    I don’t want to do any windows updates unless it’s necessary. Just wondering if this feature loss is a work in progress?

    The “X” button found on upper right corner of windows viewer when in full screen mode is currently intended for Windows (Surface) tablet that don’t have keyboard attached and no way to exit from full screen mode.
    We will improve this feature very soon.
    In case you want to disable it, we can only suggest 2 things:
    – only maximize the spacedesk viewer window instead of full screen mode, OR
    – if you are not using the touch feature, maybe you can disable it in viewer’s Functionality settings (temporarily), if you want to go to full screen mode.

    the spacedesk display is on extension mode. The window must be dragged from your main display to the spacedesk display.

    If you wish to mirror/duplicate your main display to the spacedesk display, please change it via the Windows Display Settings. For further details, please refer to Desktop Extension or Desktop Duplication (mirror) Settings in Display Control Panel topic of our user manual, https://manual.spacedesk.net/DesktopExtensionorDesktopDuplica.html.

    Hello,
    My phone can view and control my other PC perfectly. When trying to access that same PC from my laptop, most of the screen doesnt show any windows live. to elaborate, i can press start menu and see it, and click programs, but i wont see them load. if try to open or close or interact with any window, nothing will be seen on my viewer. its virtually frozen in every way with the exception of being able to see start menu load, and the taskbar updating and flashing when i load windows, those windows just dont appear.

    looking at that client desktop in person, i can see the windows pop up, the viewer just doesnt see any of it.

    i hope i was able to convey this strange behavior. and everything works perfectly fine when controlling it from my phone, so i believe the issue is the “spacedesk Viewer for Windows 7”. (i cannot download the windows 10/11 version as there is no exe, and only windows store version, which i dont have access to.)

    If you go to Bluetooth and other devices in the Windows settings, find “Spacedesk Composite Device,” remove it, and reconnect the cable between your displays, then it should work.

    This issue happened to me because I was updating spacedesk while my secondary device was plugged in. My assumption is that the only device that was actually disconnected was the virtual Graphics Adapter and the composite device remained active during the driver update. So when the update finished, I believe spacedesk didn’t recognize that the Composite Device was its own device and didn’t start the graphics adapter because of that.

    We are really wondering what makes you think that spacedesk is showing advertisement. spacedesk does not show any addvertisement and never did.
    Also you cannot make any purchase currently.
    We will soon release a business version. This paid business version will have the same features as the free version. None of them involves any advertisement.
    Can you give any further information what makes you think that you see advertisement in spacedesk?

    Hello, I have noticed recently in using spacedesk that I get 30 seconds ads every few minutes and I don`t know if this is a feature or if i can pay to not see ads…

    For reference, I am using the desktop version to connect to an android tablet to extend my monitor, the ads I get are on that tablet.

    Any way to fix it? Is there a premium version I need to purchase to not see the ads?

    Thanks for the reply, the purpose of my test was to play emulator games in Spacedesk, something like Steam Remote Play, but Spacedesk is more smooth and does not require Steam. The goal was to connect an USB-C gamepad to an Android tablet and use Spacedesk over Wifi Direct (or a 5Ghz Wifi). Since the emulator I use caps the fps in 30, the performance over Spacedesk is pretty good.

    If you have an IP Address with letters, then you probably have an IP V6 address.
    To connect spacedesk you need an IP v4 address.
    Run “ipconfig” on your Windows machine and see if there is any network adapter with IP v4 Address.
    Or use spacedesk Driver Console on your Windows machine to find network interfaces and their IP v4 Address.
