    Hi @kiki,

This feature is already planned! Release will probably be Q1 or Q2 2024. Important to note is that you can always see which viewers are currently and previously connected via spacedesk Driver Console so other people/users will not be able to connect to your PC unnoticed.

    Hi @dex,

By “2nd monitor” is it an HDMI monitor?
Have you tried with Windows logo key + P to switch to duplicate?
Could you please check if your current graphics adapter has WDDM version below than 2.0.
Just run dxdiag.exe, click Display tab and check for WDDM version.

For more info please refer to “Windows 11/10 Desktop Duplication (mirror) option not available” chapter in our user manual

I tried different things. my phone is xiamo redmi note 8. maybe the duplicate screen is not supported by my phone. but then i used “Chrome Remote Desktop” and it seems fine, the issue with that extension the chrome one is that it has a small little input latency and only can be connected via wifi. that’s why I like spacedesk. Please help guys

    Hi @wibbly,

you mentioned that your IP is the same as the one displayed in your server.
you also mentioned that spacedesk Android viewer were able to establish a proper connection but not with HTML5.
Could you maybe have multiple network adapters displayed in your server? it is possible that you are using the wrong one for HTML5 viewer.

to make sure that you are using the same IP address as in the spacedesk Android viewer (which has worked before), you can check the IP displayed in the Android viewer and use it in the HTML5 viewer.

    Hi @rfxcasey,

Spacedesk primarily uses the Android Open Accessory Protocol over USB – in this case, you should select ‘File transfer’.
BTW: have you tried the suggestions above? please note that we have cases that in some devices ‘USB debugging’ prevent spacedesk USB connection from working. so it’s better to keep USB debugging disabled.

What protocol does Spacedesk use over USB, ‘File transfer’ or ‘PTP’?

    #24504

    Hi @rfxcasey,

So, your issue is still spacedesk streaming data over WiFi even if the USB cable is connected and USB cable android is enabled in the console.

    Questions:
-When you plugged in the Android USB cable, did you see the ‘spacedesk Android USB Device’ in Device Manager under ‘Universal Serial Bus devices’? Or did it show the default name of your Android Tablet’s USB device?
-Upon plugging your Android device cable, did you see any pop up on your phone that say something like “open spacedesk to handle USB?”
-Are you plugging your USB Android cable directly into your primary machine’s USB port? Or are you perhaps using a USB hub?

Could you please try the following:
-Reinstall and update your spacedesk Android viewer app and spacedesk Windows driver to the latest version.
-Try using other USB cables/USB ports.
-Please check if ‘USB debugging’ is enabled in the Developer options of your phone. If it is enabled, please disable it and try again with the spacedesk USB connection.
-Within the Developer options, find ‘Default USB Configuration,’ then select ‘File transfer.’ This will enable you to set your device to always be on file transfer mode as default.

Hi,I tried both Android simulator or a separate third-party app. eventually I found out that nothing is wrong with spacedesk. you explained the the reason of the problem clearly. yesterday I found out the answer by putting my own creative solution to the test and it worked. Tank you for replying.

    Hi @boomrang51,

We have to move this topic from its original thread to avoid confusion.
For clarification, spacedesk audio is working when you play a video on your Android simulator, but when you try to record it, there is no audio on the recorded video. is that correct?
what is your recorder? Is it a built-in feature of the Android simulator or a separate third-party app?

Hi Christian, unfortunately I am unable to turn on diagnostic collection due to my company’s software on my work PC not allowing me to run “spacedeskserverdebuggingon.cmd” when I click the button. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do on my end to help your team troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks for taking my GUI improvement feedback into account.

    Hi @wenxin,
is this a freshly installed iOS viewer?
Have you made sure to click “allow” on a prompt that says “spacedesk would like to find and connect devices…” right after you installed it?

aside from that, please check the following:
    1. Check your WiFi router settings if it has client isolation enabled.
(This setting prevents direct communication between connected devices/computers.)
    2. Do you have VPN (Virtual Private Network) active? If yes, please disable it.
    3. Are you using any third party antivirus/firewall? if yes, Please add spacedesk in the exception list or ‘Allow List’
    4. Check on your iOS Viewer Settings -> Privacy -> Local Network, if spacedesk is on the list and enabled?
    5. Is your primary machine and iPad device connected to the same local area network?
    6. On your primary machine, please try to set your current Network Profile to “Private” via Windows Settings -> Network & Internet -> Properties.

    Hi @fritzmark,

Your title says that you need spacedesk Driver v1067 to update to v1075, but in the body of your message, you’re requesting v1036.

    Hello,

When I try to update to spacedesk v1075 I asks me to provide spacedesk_driver_Win_10_64_v1036_BETA.msi to uninstall the old version.
I have recently cleaned up “C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\”, since this is, you know, a temp directory and I thought nobody would pack important stuff into there. It seems winget is not thinking so. The missing file should be located at:

    C:\Users\Alter\AppData\Local\Temp\WinGet\Datronicsoft.SpacedeskDriver.Server.1.0.67.0
I was not able to find a download link of older releases. Can you please provide one?

    Thanks in advance

    Update:
Although I got an error message when trying to download the Windows 7 viewer, I have since learned that it actually DID download. I have installed it on the SURFACE tablet, and connected to the server, and it produces a reduced-size window, but works fine with the system mouse (i.e., the mouse from the main PC, to which the tablet looks like display 5). I have started the TDS GTNXi 750 in “Standalone” mode, which pops up on one of my main screens, then dragged it onto the tablet. There, using the system mouse, it works fine. Without using the “Take Control” trick, the finger touches do not work, and I clicked on the Spacedesk viewer window with the system mouse and activated “remote control.” The touchscreen still did not work to push any of the buttons on the 750. I used the tablet’s mouse to see how things were set up in Spacedesk, and saw the following: under Functionality, Display, Mouse remote, and Touchscreen (absolute) were checked. Under Settings, it showed the 5 lines (Resolution, Compression quality, etc.), but I saw nothing strange there, and I couldn’t click on anything and get any response with the tablet mouse. Here’s a picture of the screen under the Win 7 version (on my Win 10 tablet), in case that’s helpful…
Hope this provides some additional insight…
    Erik

You can download it on our website: https://www.spacedesk.net/

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. We’re very glad to know that spacedesk is giving you the satisfaction and service you need.
can you maybe attach a picture or a short video of your Digital Audio Workstation setup?
We could possibly share your setup and feature it on our official social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) if that would be fine with you.

I am trying to get my school to use Spacedesk so that all Students can use there tablet as an second display. For this we need to make sure that:
    1. Spacedesk and it´s settings can be distributed trough our network
    2. Spacedesk is not able to use the lan/wifi conection (just usb)
    3. Spacedesk settings are not editable by students

    Any ideas?

I just figured out how to switch between the Spacedesk window and the main window for the tablet, and when the Spacedesk window is not on the screen, then the buttons work fine… i.e., I can bring up the tablet’s “Settings” window by touching the settings icon, But the icons displayed on the bottom of the Spacedesk screen (such as the Settings icon for the server PC) do not work by touch, although they are fine by mouse click (clicking it brings the PC’s settings up on another monitor). So the connectivity is definitely there, just not the touch functionality.

If I disconnect Spacedesk viewer on the tablet, the touchscreen works normally. I can read mail, run apps, etc., at the touch of an icon. However, as soon as I connect the viewer, all of that touchscreen functionality disappears, whether or not I go through the “Take Control” procedure. I apologize that I’m not a tablet person nor, for fifteen years until recently, a Windows person. So I don’t know how to minimize the Spacedesk window, even using the mouse… I can click with the “system” mouse (i.e., the one plugged into the Server PC) when it’s on the tablet screen to push the buttons along the top and sides just off the Spacedesk-occupied portion of the screen, but none of them work for touch as long as the Spacedesk viewer is connected to the server. I hope this is responsive to your question, but I’m not at all sure, as I’m operating in pretty much of a vacuum with regard to tablet usage and more generally, any sophisticated usage of Windows (sorry!).

Hi Christian, the issue occurred again this morning and I was able to narrow things down a bit. I have my host PC connected to a Thunderbolt 3 dock which has an GigE ethernet crossover connected to my Surface Pro 8 via it’s own separate USB-C dock. On occasion, my TB3 connection will disconnect for some unknown reason but immediately reconnect. It seems when this occurs, spacedesk viewer cannot reconnect to the session even though the IP address doesn’t change. I wait ~2 minutes and nothing happens. Let me know if you need any more information.

P.S. I also need to correct my earlier statement that I am able to disconnect and reconnect without closing the app. While we’re on this topic, as a suggestion, it would be helpful if you could please make the GUI button to cancel reconnecting larger and appear by default. I am using the touch screen on my surface pro and I have to fumble around pressing the screen multiple times to find this button. Even when I find it, it takes a couple of tries to actually register pressing it.

    #24385

    Hi @goodmanmsu-edu,
Just for clarification, are your touch capabilities not working even outside of spacedesk?
Could you please try to connect to the server using your UWP app (This time, do not activate remote control) > minimize the spacedesk window > see if you can perform any touch actions on the screen.

    #24384

    Hi @dougw03,
We had to move this to a new topic with the specific issue as the title to avoid confusion. Regarding the problem, are you using the latest the spacedesk UWP viewer?
Could you please check if your graphics adapter is updated to the latest version?

I noticed that the Features / OS grid shows that on Android devices a mouse is NOT supported.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.1 inch tablet running Android 12 and I am using a Samsung S (Bluetooth) Action Mouse paired with this tablet.

So far in my limited tests, the mouse IS working! Hurray! I can control and interact with my desktop via the Windows Spacedesk driver on my Windows 10 desktop PC.

Spacedesk is particularly useful to support a remote touch screen application to control DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software.

@spacedesk Christian I’ve been getting (infrequent) random disconnects with the UWP app. I can’t seem to pinpoint when these happen, but I get a disconnect black screen and have to close out the app to get things to reconnect. This was problematic because it happened during a work screen share presentation today. Any idea how we can troubleshoot this?

I’ve tried it both ways. First, I plugged a wired mouse into the SURFACE tablet, started the Spacedesk viewer on the tablet, and clicked inside the screen (before moving the TDS GTN 650 onto this screen). I got the menu popup, clicked on Take Control, then used my PC mouse to move the GTN display onto the tablet. Worked fine with the system mouse, but no touchscreen functionality.
Then I did it the other way… rebooted the tablet, started the viewer, used the one tap and 3-finger gesture to bring up the menu, again chose “Take Control”, but same result… GTN worked fine with system mouse, but touches didn’t work at all.

So I’m still puzzled… I was very excited and happy to get your reply above, but I must still be missing something in this process… any further ideas?
    THanks very much!
    Erik

    Hi @lanson,
Have you tried the latest spacedesk Driver version? We released a new one a while ago. Could you please check if you can now run the spacedesk console using this version?

    #24355

    Hi @goodmanmsu-edu,
Have you taken control over your spacedesk screen? You will need to activate Remote Control first to use the touch functionality in MS store version of the viewer. To do this, you can simply use your Surface tablet’s mouse and click inside the active spacedesk viewer. A dialog box will appear, click ‘Take Control’ then try to use touch screen to see if it is working now.

If you don’t have an external mouse for your Surface tablet, you can also try the following method, although it’s a bit difficult to activate:
-> Tap once to activate the green menu bar at the top of the screen.
-> While the green menu bar is visible, perform a three-finger-tap gesture.
-> This should bring up the dialog to enter touch mode.
Please let us know if this works for you.

A quick followup: I just found that the same process using an ancient Android tablet works just fine… whatever I drag onto the touchscreen responds just fine to finger pokes. So it seems likely to be either a MS Surface configuration problem or a problem with the Spacedesk viewer for Windows-based tablets. Hope that helps someone see what is likely the problem…

    Hi @mz,
We tried installing it on our side using different browsers and it is still installing properly.
Are you able to install different apps other than spacedesk?
When you click the install button in the browser, does the MS Store application open?
Could you try to manually open the MS Store app, search the spacedesk viewer and install it?

If the above instructions didn’t work, try following the steps provided in this link –
    https://www.minitool.com/news/cant-install-apps-from-windows-store.html

    #24342

    Hi @srirams05,

We are glad that it is now working on your side.
In case of Desktop duplication, the answer is No. you don’t have to match the resolution of your main display and Ipad. however, to get the best experience and ensure a good display quality, it is recommended that your main screen resolution and spacedesk Viewer resolution have the same “aspect ratio” (e.g. 4:3). for 4:3 aspect ratio: Main display screen 1920×1440 and viewer display screen 800×600.
You can change resolution of spacedesk Viewer in spacedesk Viewer app menu.

    #24341

    Hi @srirams05,
    You could try the following:
    1. Disable your IPV6 in Control Panel > Network and Internet > network connection > right click on your network adapter and uncheck ‘Internet Protocol Version 6’ and leave ipv4 checked.
    or
    2. you can try to prioritize IPV4 over IPV6, please run the Command Prompt as Administrator and type the following commands below:
    reg add hklm\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip6\parameters /v DisabledComponents /t REG_DWORD /d 0x20
then reboot your pc and try to connect with spacedesk

Q: In my LAN setup described above, can I connect my ipad to the LAN switch to which the Primary PC is connected?
A: Yes, Theoretically, it should work with the use of an ethernet adapter for your Ipad, but please note that this feature has not been fully tested yet. so it may or may not work on some devices.

I have successfully linked my Android tablet as a second extended screen to my Windows laptop over both WiFi and USB cable.

However, I want to use a single window containing my remote desktop and stretch this across both screens (on my dual Windows screen desktop setup I will have email on one screen and work on the other and wish to replicate this with Spacedesk on my laptop-tablet configuration).

I can move the remote desktop window between the two screens and get a small amount on both a the same time but I cannot stretch it right across both screens. I can’t open a second instance on one screen will log off the extant instance.

Is this possible – am I missing a setting somewhere?

OK, I reinstalled 1075 & it seems to be working perfect. Not a single reconnect notification or observable glitch in about 3 hours. I didn’t mention this in my original post as I was saving it for a follow-up, but when 1075 was having issues, I would also sometimes see a message from spacedesk complaining about poor connectivity. It would sometimes popup onscreen & disappear. I had no idea what the issue could be.

My laptop is wired thru a Thunderbolt 4 dock, the tablet is just above it on Wi-Fi 5GHz & the router both are connected to is less than 1 meter to the side. I tried using other apps on the tablet & they seemed fine as a test.

I will keep an eye on the situation, advise & submit the diagnostics if the issue arises again.
If I can be of any assistance, please let me know. While all is well I’m going to turn off the diags for now.

    Thanx…..Len

    Hello SpaceDesk Team,

Your software works great on my Surface tablet.
    I have got two feature requests;

    1. Support for lower refresh rates (30 Hz, 15Hz)
This is useful for applications with (mostly) static screens (text editing) and low network bandwidth.

2 In addition to the MSI installer it would be nice to have a SpaceDesk driver package.
(Zipped folder containing an .inf file, and all the application files)
This will allow users to slipstream the SpaceDesk application and drivers into Windows installation media.
