    Hi @afalout,

We moved your reply from its original thread to focus on the touchscreen issue of your viewer.

so touch is not working on both win7 and win10 viewer is that correct?
Could you maybe you please send us the Diagnostic logs of this Issue?
    Just follow the steps below:
    – open spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – take control of the viewer and try to reproduce the issue. please use win7 viewer
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click Save All Information button (if a message box appears, just click No to proceed)
PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

also, after following the steps, could you try again if the touch screen would work this time?

    Thanks Christian,
    1) same resolution on both: 2736*1824
    2) W7 viewer initially started rotating in wrong directions, but after a while i figured out that if I disconnect once it is in Portrait – and manually flip orientation on server using Windows Display settings, then it will stay in Portrait. So that is GREAT. Obviously not ideal but it works once you figure it out.
    3) Not sure what to do regarding the link you referred me to? The user with the issue in that thread stated that touch stared working after he removed W7 client and reinstalled W10 one from the Store. Obviously if I do that, I will lose the Portrait mode again.
Also, the Take Control instructions to “simply use your Surface tablet’s mouse and click inside the active spacedesk viewer. A dialog box will appear, click ‘Take Control’” do not work here – or do not work on W7 viewer. I get “Press ALT+shift to exit remote control” instead. So Im assuming that Remote Control is already active? Either way, touch works outside the Viewer, does nothing inside the Viewer.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi @robochemist,
Thank you very much for providing the steps for this issue:
we have tried but are still unable to reproduce it on our own windows tablet.

We just have a few more questions..
    1. for #4, I thought you need to set a custom resolution like 800×600 in the spacedesk viewer which will then AUTOMATICALLY set its orientation to ‘portrait-flip’ upon connect? –“Whenever I set a custom resolution like 800×600 in spacedesk, the values come out flipped on my Windows host machine”
    2. what is your primary screen’s resolution?
    3. for @goodmanmsu-edu, does your windows tablet has windows10 OS too?
    4. a lot of info has been provided and has been very useful in investigating this issue, but if it is possible, maybe you could also send us a video clip showing the steps and actual result of this issue? this is only optional.

I have tried replying to the last thread with this name (https://forum.spacedesk.net/forums/topic/broken-aspect-ratio-rotation/) but across multiple devices and times of day, it won’t let me reply, so i’m making a new topic.

Here are the steps in answer to your previous question:
    1. Install SpaceDesk from the MS Store onto a Windows 10 tablet
    2. No configuration on the viewer (default space desk resolution and settings)
    3. Connect to host
    4. Set rotation for the viewer’s display to “Portrait (Flipped)” in the host desktop’s settings (This is the view shown in my screenshots)

I think the problem has less to do with the program itself and more about what hardware it’s installed on. It’s probably how Spaceadesk handles rotation/orientation/scaling on Windows TABLETS specifically. I’m not sure how Windows handles this exactly, but my theory is that rotation on tablets is handled differently from desktops, and SpaceDesk doesn’t know how to deal with the tablet’s style of rotation reporting. All the resolutions are correct, the output is just getting rotated and squished around. I’m not a Windows expert but that’s what I think so far…

    Hi @ravee,

Have you tried rebooting your primary machine? could you please try rebooting and then remove the spacedesk driver using the .msi?

if the issue still persists, please provide us with the following files:
    – run dxdiag.exe on your primary machine, click “Save all information” and send us the output file
    – spacedeskSetup.log file located in C:\Users\Public
    – setupapi.dev.log file located in C:\Windows\INF

Please save all requested files in one folder, then right-click -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

    Hi @robochemist, @goodmanmsu-edu
For the orientation Issue, Thank you for providing further info about this. however, for further investigation, could you maybe provide the exact step-by-step procedure on how to reproduce this issue? just to be sure that we are doing the exact same thing as we are still unable to reproduce it on our side.

    for @goodmanmsu-edu,
For Touchscreen issue on MSFS (if this is the case for you as well)
We have a previous spacedesk users that verified that MS Flight Simulator does NOT support/recognize touchscreen input (in general not just in spacedesk).
And according to that user, it can only recognize mouse input from a remote display.

We can only suggest either of the following:
    1. Use mouse touch which automatically activates on your second viewer connection.
Current spacedesk’s touchscreen only supports in first spacedesk display, so on your first viewer app just activate touch screen first, then connect a second viewer app where you can move your flight simulator app and try to send the mouse touch input from there.
    2. Select relative touch input in your viewer app settings (the touch input will behave as mouse pad for your primary machine).

    回复至: No connection to iPad

    Hi @rilagan

Have you made sure to click “allow” on a prompt that says “spacedesk would like to find and connect devices…” right after you installed it?

aside from that, please check the following:
    1. Check your WiFi router settings if it has client isolation enabled.
(This setting prevents direct communication between connected devices/computers.)
    2. Do you have VPN (Virtual Private Network) active? If yes, please disable it.
    3. Are you using any third party antivirus/firewall? if yes, Please add spacedesk in the exception list or ‘Allow List’
    4. Check on your iOS Viewer Settings -> Privacy -> Local Network, if spacedesk is on the list and enabled?
    5. Is your primary machine and iPad device connected to the same local area network?
    6. On your primary machine, please try to set your current Network Profile to “Private” via Windows Settings -> Network & Internet -> Properties.

    Hi @fritzmark,

We have sent you the requested spacedesk Driver v1067 via email.
    Please check your inbox.

    Here is the second post.
What these pictures will show is
    6) If I tell the main PC that screen 4 is in landscape mode, then the picture on the tablet rights itself, and, although squished, allows the mouse to function fine.
    7) When the TDS GTN 750Xi is dragged into THIS view, it displays perfectly, and the mouse works perfectly (see the picture), AND the touchscreen is active (after “take control”), BUT the buttons are in different locations than displayed. That is:

I believe the touchscreen coordinate system is not being massaged so as to match the displayed screen orientation.

The disturbing thing is that I know it is possible to find a way to make it work properly, because I did have it working for a few days, until a reboot changed something (I don’t know what), and I haven’t gotten it working in the week since. Any help would thus be MUCH appreciated.

I think my problem is similar. I accidentally found a solution, and then on next restart, it was gone again, and I haven’t been able to get it working correctly … the former post was “touchscreen inop…” and Christian responded. Incidentally, all of this works fine on an Android tablet with the Android client.
Running the client from the MS Store, although I also tried the Win7 version at Spacedesk’s suggestion.
I’m trying to use the TDS GTN 750Xi FMS with MSFS 2020, and it won’t allow me to use the touchscreen on my Surface tablet … that is, I can make the touchscreen active (“take control”), but when I poke, the buttons triggered are not the buttons being displayed… i.e., the touchscreen’s view of what’s on the screen doesn’t agree with what’s displayed. Here’s what I’m learning:
    1) I am testing WITHOUT STARTING MSFS at all, with the TDS GEN 750Xi in “Standalone” mode, to try to eliminate confounding factors.
    2) The first pic below shows that the main (server) PC (in Win 11) has the “portrait flipped” selected as the tablet orientation (screen 4 to the PC).
    3) On the tablet, in settings, the selected orientation is “portrait”, as shown in second pic.
    4) Next pic shows that the “extended window” as seen on the tablet is SIDEWAYS, so some piece of software has rotated the view so the aspect ratio on the tablet is close to that on the main screens. But of course, that means it is turned 90 degrees.
    5) The next pic shows what happens when the TDS GTN 750Xi is dragged onto the tablet… it is rotated just as the background screen was, so it sideways and not really usable. However, when the PC’s mouse is used, the buttons work fine, but after “take control” on the tablet, the buttons shown still do not respond to touches (at least not properly, although the touchscreen is clearly active, because dragging fingers around occasionally triggers responses from the 750Xi.

I have to do another post to show the remaining pictures, and I hope that will work, because this post will not let me upload more than 4 pictures. BUT what these pictures will show is
    6) If I tell the main PC that screen 4 is in landscape mode, then the picture on the tablet rights itself, and, although squished, allows the mouse to function fine.

Yes. I think it may have something to do with the tablet itself and how the graphics driver/orientation works. Whenever I set a custom resolution like 800×600 in spacedesk, the values come out flipped on my Windows host machine (as 600×800 for example). So, I wanted to flip the values on the client’s side but had to scale it down to fit within the 800-pixel height limit. By scaling down the native resolution (1280×800) to 800×500, and then pre-flipping the values in spacedesk to 500×800, (hoping they will un-flip to be landscape) the image just comes out even more squished.

(Possibly unrelated but maybe not) when the tablet boots up into windows, the loading animation circle is turned sideways and placed to the right of the RCA logo. I’m guessing this is because, on the hardware level, the default orientation is in portrait mode. the logo is turned 90 degrees just to look nice. example: https://youtu.be/s9QM2BgJv74?t=236

2960 x 1848 resolution and 60 fps might already reach the limits of encoding performance on such a smaller scale platform. Use custom resolution 1480×924 This can be selected on spacedesk Android resolution menu. This should avoid black stripes on either side of the screen and will definitely improve encoding performance.

    #24603

    Hi @zenbu,

The extended display only shows two options compared to duplicate because one of the resolutions is your native Android screen resolution, typically used for desktop extension. The other option is a customized resolution that you might have set previously in the spacedesk Android viewer settings.

I assume you want to set 1920×1080 to both extend and duplicate mode. to do this, just go to spacedesk Android viewer settings > Resolution > click “Choose Custom Resolution” then look for 1920×1080 and click it. > connect your device again > go to system settings of you PC and extend your display. it should now show 1920×1080 as one of your options.

    #24602

    Hi @dougw03,

You can instead go to spacedesk Console > Diagnostics > click “Save all information” (you do not have to enable the ‘diagnostic collection’ option) > click NO on the pop-up admin privileges permission then save the output in a single zip file.
You may send the output files by uploading the zip files in Dropbox or other file hosting services and just send us the download link.

    回复至: Black screen

    Hi @naddy,

Could you elaborate on this “it happens even without connecting to any device.” did you mean even without connecting to spacedesk?

For your Blackscreen problem, do you maybe have Nvidia ShadowPlay installed on your machine?
Could you please check for any incompatible software, just run the spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics -> Incompatible Software Products.

For the files you sent, unfortunately, the files exceed the allowed size.
Could you maybe upload the zip files in the Dropbox or other file hosting services and just send us the download link.

Hi Christian, this happened again but it did not trigger on a thunderbolt disconnect. It actually just happened randomly. I waited about a minute to see if it would reconnect then I opened dxdiag and while that was running the screen reconnected. I’d rather not post my dxdiag file in the open. Is there another way to share this?

I have downloaded the Spacedesk application from the Microsoft Store onto a spare RCA W101v2 2-in-1 Windows tablet. It seems like the aspect ratio or rotation is broken because the output onto the tablet is always stretched in the wrong ways. Setting the tablet’s display to landscape in the host’s Windows settings turns it sideways (portrait) on the tablet and squishes it the other way. Then, setting the tablet’s *OS orientation* to portrait after that, shows the desktop correctly with gigantic black bars on top and bottom.

When I took the screenshot, it had a portrait orientation, so I squished it to look like the output I saw on the display. The screenshot of just the settings is the configuration: Portrait host output, landscape tablet OS setting, native resolution on Spacedesk, and no other configuration. I have already tried resetting the Spacedesk settings.

Everything worked fine with the Windows 7 download from this website. This issue only exists on the application I got from the Microsoft store.

Edit: To clarify, the pictured settings window is the same exact one between both screenshots, just taken on different displays. (no settings were changed between when I took the first and second one)

Hello Christian thanks for replying back,
the graphic adapter is up to date but please note my laptop has a weak Graphics card (Iris xe integrated)
and yes I’m using both latest spacedesk driver and latest android version.
I checked when watching a full hd youtube video in Fullscreen the CPU usage was about 30% and the memory was 230 MB (give or take)
Please Note that my tablet’s resolution is 2960 x 1848 i didn’t want to lower the resolution in order to fill the whole screen and not get a window surrounded by some black, the image quality is less than half, I’m using 60 fps also.

    Best Regards!

    #24569

Highest performance is already achieved by cabled networks => cabled connection (e.g. native Android USB, ethernet)

For the lagging behavior, please make sure of the following:
-check if your graphics adapter driver is up to date.
-You’re using the latest spacedesk windows driver and android viewer version.

Could you also observe the spacedeskService.exe’s CPU and Memory load(%) in the taskbar > Processes whenever the lagging occurs? what is the percentage during such scenarios?

    Hi @dex,

By “2nd monitor” is it an HDMI monitor?
Have you tried with Windows logo key + P to switch to duplicate?
Could you please check if your current graphics adapter has WDDM version below than 2.0.
Just run dxdiag.exe, click Display tab and check for WDDM version.

    Hi @rfxcasey,

Spacedesk primarily uses the Android Open Accessory Protocol over USB – in this case, you should select ‘File transfer’.
BTW: have you tried the suggestions above? please note that we have cases that in some devices ‘USB debugging’ prevent spacedesk USB connection from working. so it’s better to keep USB debugging disabled.

Thanks for the reply. I figured out how to set my Fire tablets to ‘USB debugging’ mode, question now is, what do I set for the USB default? I have several options, ‘file transfer’, ‘MIDI’, ‘PTP’ and ‘No data transfer’. I’ll experiment and see if I can figure it out.

    #24504

    Hi @rfxcasey,

So, your issue is still spacedesk streaming data over WiFi even if the USB cable is connected and USB cable android is enabled in the console.

    Questions:
-When you plugged in the Android USB cable, did you see the ‘spacedesk Android USB Device’ in Device Manager under ‘Universal Serial Bus devices’? Or did it show the default name of your Android Tablet’s USB device?
-Upon plugging your Android device cable, did you see any pop up on your phone that say something like “open spacedesk to handle USB?”
-Are you plugging your USB Android cable directly into your primary machine’s USB port? Or are you perhaps using a USB hub?

Could you please try the following:
-Reinstall and update your spacedesk Android viewer app and spacedesk Windows driver to the latest version.
-Try using other USB cables/USB ports.
-Please check if ‘USB debugging’ is enabled in the Developer options of your phone. If it is enabled, please disable it and try again with the spacedesk USB connection.
-Within the Developer options, find ‘Default USB Configuration,’ then select ‘File transfer.’ This will enable you to set your device to always be on file transfer mode as default.

Well, as so often happens in the real world, after I re-installed the MS Store Win 10 version of the viewer, started up the diagnostics in the server, and took control on the MS Surface tablet, the touchscreen started working… I’d done the same thing (minus the diagnostics step) several times before, to no good result, but right now, it’s finally working, at which I’m delighted! I would send along the zipped diagnostics files in case they would be of any use to you, but they came out to be 2.5MB, and the max size allowed below is 512KB.

Thanks for your helpful responses… I love your product!!!

I’m trying to connect my work Windows laptop to my iPad Pro 11 but it’s not working.

In the Network Adapters settings on my work laptop, I can only see the virtual IP address. When I go into the WiFi settings, I find the real IP address for my laptop and input it on my iPad, but it doesn’t show up in the list of available devices on my iPad. It just says “IP validation progress..”, then it failed.

Even when I enter the physical IP address of my laptop, it still fails to connect. I’m guessing there might be some settings on my work laptop that are preventing the connection, but I’m not sure.

Do you have any suggestions on how I can get my iPad to successfully connect to and access my work laptop? Some guidance would really help me out since I’m stumped on what to try next.

    Update:
Although I got an error message when trying to download the Windows 7 viewer, I have since learned that it actually DID download. I have installed it on the SURFACE tablet, and connected to the server, and it produces a reduced-size window, but works fine with the system mouse (i.e., the mouse from the main PC, to which the tablet looks like display 5). I have started the TDS GTNXi 750 in “Standalone” mode, which pops up on one of my main screens, then dragged it onto the tablet. There, using the system mouse, it works fine. Without using the “Take Control” trick, the finger touches do not work, and I clicked on the Spacedesk viewer window with the system mouse and activated “remote control.” The touchscreen still did not work to push any of the buttons on the 750. I used the tablet’s mouse to see how things were set up in Spacedesk, and saw the following: under Functionality, Display, Mouse remote, and Touchscreen (absolute) were checked. Under Settings, it showed the 5 lines (Resolution, Compression quality, etc.), but I saw nothing strange there, and I couldn’t click on anything and get any response with the tablet mouse. Here’s a picture of the screen under the Win 7 version (on my Win 10 tablet), in case that’s helpful…
Hope this provides some additional insight…

Yes, with the Win 10 (MS Store) viewer running, I can finger touch icons along the bottom and bring up a browser, settings, etc. So the screen is active outside the viewer.
I tried to download the Win 7 version, using both Chrome and Edge, but in both cases, it gives me the following:
    HTML5 app prerequisites
Please delete all cached files, images and cookies on web browser settings to load the latest HTML5 viewer page
Requires latest version of web browser and operating system. Please update
Mozilla Firefox currently unsupported due to performance limitations

My tablet was purchased recently (used, but cleaned), and came with newly installed Windows 10 Home, version 22H2, and I installed the latest Chrome browser, so it’s not that my system is out of date. After the failure above, I went into Chrome and deleted all the history, killed Chrome and restarted it, went back to your website, and tried the Win 7 download again, but, unfortunately, with the same result. Any further ideas?
    Thanks,
    Erik

    Hi @dougw03,
For further analysis, Could you please send us the Diagnostic logs of this Issue?
    Just follow the steps below:
    – open spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – try to reproduce the issue
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click Save All Information button (if a message box appears, just click No to proceed)
PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

I am using a triple-display setup with surface pro and iPad along with my default PC monitor. I have my iPad in portrait mode and have two questions:

    1. The “Connected – Display OFF” screen does not blank out the entire screen. It looks like this was only created for landscape mode. See picture here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/UbugZ8UXNzQ6EuCX8
    2. Can I set a timeout for this screen? This screen stays on and does not seem to be affected by disconnect display value setting. I want my iPad to go to sleep after I turn my host PC off/sleep.

    Thanks

I noticed that the Features / OS grid shows that on Android devices a mouse is NOT supported.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.1 inch tablet running Android 12 and I am using a Samsung S (Bluetooth) Action Mouse paired with this tablet.

So far in my limited tests, the mouse IS working! Hurray! I can control and interact with my desktop via the Windows Spacedesk driver on my Windows 10 desktop PC.

Spacedesk is particularly useful to support a remote touch screen application to control DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software.

I’ve tried it both ways. First, I plugged a wired mouse into the SURFACE tablet, started the Spacedesk viewer on the tablet, and clicked inside the screen (before moving the TDS GTN 650 onto this screen). I got the menu popup, clicked on Take Control, then used my PC mouse to move the GTN display onto the tablet. Worked fine with the system mouse, but no touchscreen functionality.
Then I did it the other way… rebooted the tablet, started the viewer, used the one tap and 3-finger gesture to bring up the menu, again chose “Take Control”, but same result… GTN worked fine with system mouse, but touches didn’t work at all.

So I’m still puzzled… I was very excited and happy to get your reply above, but I must still be missing something in this process… any further ideas?
    THanks very much!

    Hi @goodmanmsu-edu,
Have you taken control over your spacedesk screen? You will need to activate Remote Control first to use the touch functionality in MS store version of the viewer. To do this, you can simply use your Surface tablet’s mouse and click inside the active spacedesk viewer. A dialog box will appear, click ‘Take Control’ then try to use touch screen to see if it is working now.

If you don’t have an external mouse for your Surface tablet, you can also try the following method, although it’s a bit difficult to activate:
-> Tap once to activate the green menu bar at the top of the screen.
-> While the green menu bar is visible, perform a three-finger-tap gesture.
-> This should bring up the dialog to enter touch mode.
Please let us know if this works for you.

    Hi @srirams05,

We are glad that it is now working on your side.
In case of Desktop duplication, the answer is No. you don’t have to match the resolution of your main display and Ipad. however, to get the best experience and ensure a good display quality, it is recommended that your main screen resolution and spacedesk Viewer resolution have the same “aspect ratio” (e.g. 4:3). for 4:3 aspect ratio: Main display screen 1920×1440 and viewer display screen 800×600.
You can change resolution of spacedesk Viewer in spacedesk Viewer app menu.

It works.. I didn’t have to disable the IPv6. It turns out that when I had installed the viewer on the ipad, i must not have allowed it access to something. I uninstalled and reinstalled the viewer app this time allowing. It works with the ipad connected via Ethernet adapter/cable to the LAN.

Now the next step is to figure out how to duplicate one of the 3 displays on the PC onto the Ipad display. I presume I must do this on the PC Display controls?

When I duplicate, do the resolution of the PC display have to match the display setting on the Ipad?

I will check if the documentation has guidance on this.

    Thanks for your help

I am a user from China and it is difficult to use google play and VISA in our place.
Have developers thought about using paypal, or alipay/wechat payment? And have you considered using a license verification method other than google play? I have purchased another app called superdisplay, and when google play doesn’t connect (which happens a lot), it changes from the full version back to the experience version, which is very frustrating for me!

    Hello,
Ic can’t install the Win 10 Viewer from the Windows Store. In Firefox there ist an Error message, which tells that there is no app found for this file. In Edge just nothing happens if I click the install-button.
    Could you help me?

    Best regards
    Matthias
