    Hi,

When I connect a cable directly between my laptop and tablet Spacedesk works but when I connect a cable from my laptop to a USB hub on my tablet I get no signal.

Is there a specific hub that works with Spacedesk or is this not possible. I want the ability to charge my tablet while I have it connected to the laptop.

No, unfortunately I don’t seem to find any recent .dmp files. And yes, my PC happen to only crash when spacedesk is connected and the specific game I mentioned was running. I’ll try replicating the bugs/crash to see if I can retrieve and logs of the crash.

    Hi @talakazamadsa,

Thank you very much for sending the requested logs.

However the .dmp files collected were outdated, it’s not the corresponding dump file for the most recent PC crash.
Can you quickly check if there’s a recent *.dmp file found in “C:\Windows\minidump” folder and in “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\WDF” folder. Just check the most recent one with timestamp today.

In the meantime, please try to update your NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti display adapter.
You can download the latest version from their website https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Or via Nvidia GeForce Experience app.

By the way, does the PC crash only happens when spacedesk is connected and only if this specific game is running?

    Hi @talakazamadsa,
For further analysis, please send us the diagnostic info of your primary machine.
Just open the spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics, click the “Save All Information” button.
If message box appear, please click “Yes” and it will restart as Administrator, then click again the “Save All Information” button.

PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

    Hi @mayamark,

We are glad to hear that it is now working on your end. We will now close this topic.
In case you encounter any spacedesk-related issues, just let us know and we’ll be happy to assist you.

    #18194

    Hi @mayamark,

This time, try to Uninstall it in the device manager. just select “Uninstall Device” and make sure to check the “Attempt to remove the driver for this device” box/option before clicking the Uninstall button. After that, please open spacedesk Driver Console and switch the spacedesk SERVER OFF-ON and try again with spacedesk.
Please check the attached screenshot for assistance.

    Hi @Will,

Unfortunately, the sample you sent is not advisable as it is an OTG cable. a simple Android USB cable will do as long as your tablet supports it. Then please proceed by following the instructions provided in Direct USB Cable Connection chapter in the user manual – https://forum.spacedesk.netuser-manual/#item_11715

    Hi @spacedeskuser10092,
Can you quickly try plugging the Android USB cable on other USB port in your PC?

    #18006

    Hi,

The current Android version I have is 13.

In Device Manager, I don’t see anything different when plugging or unplugging my tablet. The tablet is simply charging, event tho the default USB setting is set to file transfer.

I tried deactivating the USB on the Spacedesk Driver Console and restarting everything, and nothing has changed.

    Hi @mayamark,

Thank you very much for sending your diagnostic logs.
Please do not remove the Epson Projector Idd Device. try to ENABLE it first by following the steps below:
-open Device Manager (just run “devmgmt.msc”) > look for ‘Epson Projector Idd Device’ > right click > select “Enable Device.”
Then try connecting again with spacedesk.

    #17992

    Hi @mayamark,

Thank you for sending the screenshot.
Another possible cause of your Display off issue is your disabled Epson Projector Idd Device.
Could you please try to enable it in the Device Manager and check again with spacedesk?

    Hi @mayamark,

Thank you very much for sending your diagnostic logs.
Based on the logs, you currently have a detached secondary display.
could you please send us a screenshot of the Windows display settings while spacedesk is connected?

Could you also please try to “Clear Windows Display Settings” in spacedesk Driver Console -> Control, then try again with spacedesk.

    #17984

    Hi @mayamark,

Unfortunately, we cannot open the zip file (and it’s not the right diagnostic folder we need for analysis).
Please follow the steps above on how to get the diagnostic logs via spacedesk Driver Console.
spacedesk Driver Console app generates a diagnostic folder name like “2023-06-26-XXXXX-spacedeskRuntimeDiagnostics” (which contains all necessary diagnostic log files), then this is the folder that you should compress (zipped).

You can also try to split the contents of the diagnostic logs into 2 folders, zip them and upload the 2 zipped file in case it exceeds the allowed file size.

    #17982

    Hi @mayamark,

Could you please send us the diagnostic logs of the issue?
    Just follow the steps below:
    – open spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics
    – if Debug View is not available, please click the download button first
    – switch Diagnostic Collection ON (make sure to click Yes in the User Account Control box to proceed)
    – try to connect your viewer app and reproduce the display off issue
    – switch Diagnostic Collection OFF
    – click Save All Information button (if a message box appears, just click No to proceed)
PS: Saving all information will take a few seconds, then please send us the whole folder which contains all the diagnostic logs collected.
Please right-click the folder -> Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder, then attach the *.zip file in your next reply.

    Thank you for your reply.
    Regarding the points you instructed:
In the Display Settings, there is no indication of whether the spacedesk display is detached/grayed out.
Additionally, there is no incompatible software installed.

According to the manual, the spacedesk DRIVER for PRIMARY Machine should display a menu, but I am unable to see it as shown in the image you provided.

    Hi @spacedeskuser10092,
What is the current Android version of your tablet device?

When you plugged the Android USB cable, did you see the “spacedesk Android USB Device” in Device Manager (just run devmgmt.msc) underneath “Universal Serial Bus devices”? Or did it show the default name of your Android Tablet’s USB device?

Can you please quickly try to switch Android USB Cable to OFF in spacedesk Driver Console > Reboot your PC and restart your Android device. Check if your machine can now recognize your Android device and switch back the Android USB Cable to ON.

    #17972

    Hi @Will,

Please make sure to turn off Videowall mode on your primary machine using the spacedesk Driver Console, then check if the performance improves.

In the meantime, there are also a few more things you can try to improve the performance with spacedesk. Please try the suggestions in the performance tuning chapter in the user manual https://forum.spacedesk.netuser-manual/#item_505.

Note that the hardware encoding feature, which will significantly improve spacedesk performance, will be available in the upcoming release.

    Hi @mayamark,

Could you please check the following:
    – open the Display Settings of your primary machine in the Windows operating system. Verify whether the spacedesk display is detached/grayed out, if it is indeed detached, proceed to attach it by choosing either the “extend” or “duplicate” option.
    – check for any incompatible software, just run the spacedesk Driver Console -> Diagnostics -> Incompatible Software Products

    Hello,

The Spacedesk solutionis wonderful! I wish I knew about it before. After getting frustrated with Microsoft’s Miracast which was both laggy and unstable with a lot of crashes for me (not mentioning the limitation that it only works wirelessly), I’m finally able to utilize my Surface Go 2 as a second monitor over Ethernet for my main Windows 10 PC and it’s a breeze!

Only problem I found with the App from the Windows Store is that it’s very difficult to figuring out how to activate the Touch/Mouse control: it requires to first tap on the App to show the green bar, and then to tap with 3 fingers very gently, where the spacing of the fingers must be very specific; if you have your fingers a little far or close to one another it doesn’t show up the window for activating input. If I use the Microsoft Pen however the input activating window shows up with a single tap.

I think that a dedicated button in the green bar to enable/disable input would be a better solution.

Besides that, I would very much like to be be able to switch the audio to be playing from my secondary display. This works when running the non-app version of the Viewer, however there’s a problem with input control there, which is why I moved to use the App.

Overall, it’s one of the BEST apps I ever used. Keep up the good work! 🙂

    Hi @spacedeskuser10092Hi @spacedeskuser10092,
First, please try to disable the USB debugging in the developer option. There are some cases in some devices that USB debugging prevent spacedesk USB connection from working.

Please make sure to enable the Android USB cable in spacedesk Driver Console window. Upon plugging the USB cable, spacedesk viewer should run automatically and connect.
For assistance, please refer to the chapter “CONNECTING A NEW DISPLAY MONITOR OVER THE USB CABLE -> Direct USB Cable Connection (Android only)” in the user manual https://forum.spacedesk.netuser-manual/#item_11689.

If it still did not work, please open on your Android device’s settings, and find the setting for default USB configuration (or something similar to it) and select the File transfer/sharing mode.
Maybe you can search for the keyword “USB” if you don’t know where this setting is located..

    Hi @blnixx,
Thanks for sending the diagnostic logs.
First, please try to disable your Nvidia ShadowPlay/In-game Overlay/screen recording in the Nvidia GeForce Experience window on your primary machine and try again.

By the way, is USB debugging in your Android device’s Developer’s option enable? If yes, please disable it and try again with spacedesk USB connection.

    Hi,
I am using my Galaxy Tab S6 lite as a second monitor. Spacedesk works fine with LAN/WiFi connection, but my WiFi is too slow to enable me to use the second monitor properly, even with a reduced image quality.

I then tried to set up a connection via USB, but nothing is working.

I tried activating USB debugging in the Developer options and it did nothing.

Some sources I found seemed to explain that I should put the tablet in media sharing mode, but I didn’t find any option to do that or any popup to allow file sharing.

So I simply cannot detect my primary machine via USB.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you.

Thank you again for your reply.
According to your method, my computer still cannot re-recognize the S1 speaker. I still can only recover by rebooting.
As long as my computer is not connected to S2, even if I disconnect S1, the computer will be able to recognize S1 speakers after reconnecting. I used my phone to install spacedesk for testing, and the same situation occurred. As long as I didn’t use the spacedesk screen, unplugged or disconnected S1 will without causing the problem of not recognizing the speakers.
By the way, did you reproduce the same bug?

Is the “Android USB Cable” enabled in spacedesk Driver Console? Can you quickly try to switch OFF-ON it?
Upon USB plug, could you also please open the device manager on your primary machine (just run devmgmt.msc) and check underneath USB Devices if you can find your android device or spacedesk Android USB Device is in there.

For further analysis, please send us the diagnostic logs of your primary machine while USB cable is plugged. Just open the spacedesk Driver COnsole -> Diagnostics -> Save All Information (if message box appear, just click No to proceed).

    Hi @qstdnx,
    Thanks for detailed info.
So it also happens even with simple unplug-plug of your HDMI monitor, even without spacedesk involved, correct?
I think your Windows PC cannot detect the HDMI monitor’s speaker immediately once you unplug and replug it.

When it happens, can you please try to open your Device Manager (just run “devmgmt.msc”), click the computer name in the tree view, then click the Action tab -> Scan for hardware changes then check if it can now detect the HDMI monitor speaker device in the Windows Sound Settings.

I’m very sorry that I didn’t test it clearly when I gave you feedback, so you can’t reproduce it.
After testing, I found that everything was fine when I used both the HDMI screen (hereinafter called S1) and the Android tablet installed spacedesk (hereinafter called S2). The operation of bug reproduction is as follows:
After the S2 is connected to the computer, in multi-monitor setting(Windows Settings→System→screen), set S1 to disconnect, and only use S2 as the screen. In this case, if the spacedesk is disconnected, S1’s speakers will not be recognized. This is how I usually use spacedesk, so I’ve been obsessed with this bug.
the same bug occurs when the HDMI cable is unplugged and then connected.

If not, can you quickly try to connect via spacedesk HTML5 Viewer in your iPad?
Just open a web browser (e.g. Safari or Google Chrome), then go to http://viewer.spacedesk.net/ and connect to the IP address of your primary machine.
Then let us know the result.

By the way, Is your iPad from Mainland China?

Please ignore the info message, it’s only an initial info message for the users every time they open the viewer app.
You can just click the “Don’t show again” if it annoys you.

The actual problem here is that the viewer cannot discover your primary machine.
Please check first on your iPad Settings -> Privacy -> Local Network, if spacedesk is on the list and enabled?

    Hi @user213456,
We are glad to hear that it’s working now on your side.
A possible cause of this issue is maybe the Viewer app hangs then crashes during the last time you used it with Audio Speaker enabled.
Did you remember it happening the last time?

To further investigate the cause, could you please check if there are any spacedeskWindowsVIEWER.exe.xxxx.dmp files created in the following directories of your secondary machine:
    – C:\Users\\AppData\Local\CrashDumps
    – C:\WINDOWS\System32\Config\SystemProfile\AppData\Local\CrashDumps

Thank you for your patient reply.
When the speaker of the screen with the HDMI interface is not recognized, the speaker of the screen is not displayed in the Sound setting. I’ve tried to switch the spacedesk OFF-ON too, and it won’t make the device to be re-recognized.
There was the same problem in the previous version, and I found a solution. Before I disconnect, I let the computer sleep, and then disconnect the computer after sleep, so that the device will be recognized when I wake up the computer. If the spacedesk is disconnected while the computer going to sleep, the speakers on the screen will still not be recognized after waking up the computer.
But in the new version of spacedesk, this method has failed. The last version of spacedesk I installed was 0.9.76

I am having trouble using my Samsung Tab A8 tablet as a second monitor with the Spacedesk app. My Windows 10 computer does not support Miracast, so I am trying to use Spacedesk to connect my tablet to my computer. The connection is established, but my tablet only displays a black screen, even though an additional screen is visible in my computer’s settings.

I have made sure to update to the latest version of Spacedesk and have updated all of my drivers, but the issue persists.

Could you please help me resolve this issue? Are there any additional steps I should take to fix this problem?

    Hi @qstdnx,

Please check in Windows Settings -> System -> Sound settings, if the output/speaker device is set to correct speaker after disconnecting the spacedesk (with remote audio).
And maybe try switching the spacedesk OFF-ON via spacedesk Driver Console, instead of reboot.

My screen with speakers use hdmi to connect to my computer. Turn on the remote audio with a deskspace connection on the tablet, Everything works normally. When I disconnect, my screen speaker will not be recognized and can only be restored by rebooting the computer. Disconnecting the HDMI, reconnecting and rebooting the screen are useless.
